Hello, Xavier Families!

March is a busy and exciting time here on campus! Students have a lot on their minds- from midterm assignments to academic advising and of course, basketball. This month is going to fly by. I hope your students are enjoying their last couple of days of break and are ready to finish the semester strong.

March Gladness March 19th-20th, 2024  

March Gladness is our 48-hour giving campaign that invites the Xavier community—including students and parents—to support the area on campus they love most! During these two days support your student’s favorite club, program, or initiative on campus by donating to that page and help them win challenge dollars! There are also exclusive give-a-ways throughout the 48 hours for donors who show their support!

Save the Date: Family Weekend 2024!

Family Weekend 2024 will take place, Friday, October 18 - Sunday, October 20. The Office of Student Involvement at Xavier University invites students and their families to attend the 2024 family weekend! Come see for yourself what the Xavier experience is really like for your student and spend the weekend with them this fall.  

Family Weekend is a time to reconnect for a weekend of fun activities and events for the whole family to enjoy! Some events to look forward to are:  

  • Brunch at Hoffman Dinning Hall 
  • Family Fall Fest 
  • President and Jesuit Community Breakfast 
  • Family Weekend Mass in Bellarmine Chapel  
  • Bingo  
  • Theatre Performances

Proxy Access Update 

As a reminder, an important update recently occurred in our Self-Service system. As a result of the update, the Proxy Access system will be impacted. In order to avoid any disruption in your access, your student(s) will need to re-establish any prior authorizations. Additional information about Proxy Access can be found online


Commencement 2024 Information

Congratulations on reaching this monumental moment for you and your student! To ensure your student is prepared for commencement, below is a list of helpful items for them to complete: 
  • Apply For Graduation – The deadline to apply for Graduation was Friday, January 19, 2024. Applications submitted after the deadline incur a $50 late fee. An application must be submitted in order to award your degree, whether or not you plan to participate in the ceremony. 
  • Update their Contact Information – Let us know how to keep in touch after graduation. Note that your Xavier email account is deactivated 1 year after graduation. Be sure to unlink any accounts that are tied to your email. 
  • Order Regalia – Any order placed after February 22nd will need to be placed before April 26th to guarantee that your regalia will be in hand by Commencement. 

Our ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2024, in the Cintas Center. The undergraduate ceremony starts at 9:00 a.m., and the graduate ceremony is at 2:30 p.m. Students who graduate in August and December are invited to participate in the May ceremonies. There are no additional ceremonies in August or December. Tickets are not required, but any accommodation requests should be sent to commencement@xavier.edu in advance.  

We cannot wait to celebrate their accomplishments. For additional questions or concerns, please reach out to our Commencement Committee and a member of the Committee will be happy to respond. 


Spring Career Fair Dates Information 

The Career Development Office hosts three career fairs, providing great networking for students to pursue internships, full time & part-time employment, and more! Career fairs include over 200 organizations looking to recruit students for various roles & opportunities.  
  • Xavier’s Spring Career Fair will take place on March 13 2-5 p.m. in the Cintas Center. The Career Fair  is open to all majors and class years. The Fair will have 100 employers looking to hire for full-time, internships, graduate school opportunities, and more!  
  • The Southern Ohio/Northern Kentucky Education Fair will take place on March 19th at 9 a.m. This fair is a great opportunity for Senior education students to network and interview with over 100 employers. 
  • Xavier’s Spring Part-Time & Seasonal Jobs Fair will take place April 11th from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. This event is for students looking to add or build onto their resumes by pursuing part-time or seasonal work.

We hope students will take advantage of these opportunities to enhance their professional development, whether they are in their first year or graduating.  

Students can benefit from meeting with their career coach to prepare prior to the events!  


A Message from our Education Abroad Office 

Students studying abroad this upcoming summer are in the pre-departure phase!  

  • The education abroad staff is hosting two-departure sessions for students to equip themselves with the knowledge they need to have for a successful experience.  
  • Students choose one session on either March 5-7 p.m. or March 15 2-4 p.m.  
  • Information includes course registration, billing, health, and safety, cultural adjustment, and logistics (banking, phone, etc...).  
Looking ahead, applications for Spring 2025 abroad programs will open Monday, April 1. To contact the Education Abroad Advising office email: studyabroad@xavier.edu.

A Message from the Office of Residence Life 

  • Residential areas will remain open for Easter Break during the dates of March 28-April 1. Students staying are asked to complete the Easter Break housing registration on Housing Self-Service.  
  • For those in need of housing over the summer, applications will open for students upon their return from spring break. Students will be able to apply on Housing Self-Service.  
  • For future reference, residential facilities will close at the end of the semester on Friday, May 3rd at 5 p.m. For graduating students, they will close at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 12th.

Graduate School Showcase

If your student is considering graduate school, encourage them to join us for our 2024 Graduate School Showcase on March 19th from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Smith Hall Atrium. This is an opportunity to learn about Xavier’s 30+ graduate programs in fields such as Business (MBA), Education, Nursing, Health Services Administration, Counseling, Occupational Therapy and more. A full list of our graduate programs is available online

As a reminder, the Loyal Musketeer Scholarship offers graduating students and alumni a 25% discount on tuition for most graduate programs.

  • March 28-April 1 - Easter Holiday. No Classes March 28 - April 1, with the exception of Monday once-a-week classes which meet after 4:00 p.m. on April 1
  • April 2 - Summer 2024 registration for all students begins
  • April 2-5 - Fall 2024 Priority Registration for all currently enrolled students
  • April 12 - Final day for withdrawal from full-term classes for Undergraduate students
  • April 26 - Last day of classes
  • April 27-28 - Study Weekend
  • April 29-May 3 - Spring semester final examinations
