Hello, Xavier Families!

Believe it or not, we are less than two weeks away from the start of another school year. I don’t know about all of you, but I’m in denial that it’s already August. Whether it’s the last summer before your student starts college or your student’s last summer before they enter the “real” world, it has probably been a very bittersweet and fast summer for all of you.

Hopefully, this newsletter will serve as a gentle reminder for your student that school is starting and they should be checking their emails again. Not that it would apply to any of your students, of course. As we approach August 21st, the first day of classes, enjoy your last moments together and know that we are all excited to welcome your students to campus!

Go X!

Welcome Back Events for Students

1. Week of Welcome (WoW) welcomes new and returning students to Xavier

Each fall, the university welcomes our new and returning Musketeers to campus with a week of free, fun, engaging events. This year's Week of Welcome hosts over 80 events sponsored by more than 60 student organizations, offices, and departments as part of the festivities to kick off the fall semester. We invite you to explore the events at www.xavier.edu/wow and to encourage your student to browse all of the opportunities on EngageXU

2. Club Day - Meet the 150+ clubs at Xavier!

Club Day is an annual Xavier tradition where students can browse, explore, and join student organizations and meet offices and departments from across campus. This year's event will be on Wednesday, August 30 - the second week of classes - from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Xavier Yard, in the heart of campus. We hope you'll encourage your Musketeer to stop by, check-in, grab a free pair of sunglasses and a map to explore all the groups at Club Day!

3. Center for Diversity and Inclusion Welcome (Back) Events

Our Second Annual Multicultural Welcome (Back) event will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on the Husman Stage. This year’s Multicultural Welcome (Back) will truly be a special event designed to instill pride, tradition, and accomplishment in our students who participate. It is an opportunity to celebrate the huge step that our newest students are taking in their lives, both in adulthood and into their collegiate experience.

Our LGBTQ+ Welcome (back) event will be held on August 31, from Noon - 2:00 p.m. in GSC 290. We will have lots of resources to share, crafts, community, and a build your own nacho bar from Condado!

Save the Date: Family Weekend 2023 October 20-22

Family Weekend is the perfect time to reconnect for the weekend and experience life on Xavier's campus. Family Weekend 2023 will take place the weekend of October 20-22. Families can choose from a variety of events and are invited to participate in as many or as few of the events as they choose.

For more info about Family Weekend, please visit our website at: http://xavier.edu/family-weekend.

Transition to One Pass Information

As of this fall, Xavier is transitioning away from physical All Cards. Students will need to download One Pass to their phones to continue utilizing their campus access and meal plan. Existing physical All Cards will continue to work for upper class students. They will need their One Pass to access their residence hall, use their meal plan and access other campus locations like the HUB gym and athletic events.

Please encourage your student to do so prior to arriving to campus, to allow time to troubleshoot any issues they may encounter. Please note that students need to add their One Pass to their phone’s wallet to complete the process. More information about the process can be found at www.xavier.edu/OnePass.
