Hello, Xavier Families!

It is officially Fall Break! I can only imagine how much your students need this break. I am hopeful many of them can take the time to rest and relax as they gear up for the last half of the semester. If you’re able to catch a moment with your student here’s a list of things I would recommend checking in on:

  1. Classes- Midterm grading period ends on October 16, which means hopefully your students have started to receive feedback on midterms. Check in with your student on how classes are going and recommend any appropriate resources- Success Coach meetings, tutoring, Math Lab, or the Writing Center.
  2. Administrative Registration Holds- Registration is coming up in a month and holds can impede their ability to register. These can range from Bursar Holds, Academic Advising Holds, and Disciplinary Holds.
  3. Academic Advising- Registration takes place in about a month. Encourage your students to begin thinking about classes for next semester and to be on the lookout for academic advising appointment requests from their academic advisor.
  4. Emotional Wellbeing- This time of year can be extremely stressful so make sure they are taking care of themselves, and getting the support they need. Our Counseling Services team is always ready to help!

I hope your students have a wonderful and safe break!

All for One!

Is Your Student Ready to Vote?

The deadline to register to vote in Ohio is Tuesday, October 10th. The state of Ohio does allow college students living in the state for school to register to vote! Ohio residents can update their voting address online. Out-of-state students will need to register to vote by Tuesday, October 10th – more information on how to register can be found online.

Help Your Student Find Connections

Consider talking with your student about whether they're using EngageXU and the CampusGroups mobile app to explore the nearly 700 campus activities and events still to come this fall. Here is another helpful tool to talk about how to make connections and to choose their own path!

2024-2025 FAFSA Webpage

As many of you are aware, there are significant changes coming to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) starting with the upcoming application for 2024-2025. To help you better understand how these changes will impact the application process, and potentially impact your student’s financial aid award in future years, our Office of Student Financial Services has created a webpage dedicated to the 2024-2025 FAFSA updates. Find the latest information on the Office of Student Financial Services webpage.

Operation Scholarship Success

Encourage your student to join us at the Veteran and Military Family Center on October 18th from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM for a lunch and learn session tailored to military-affiliated students seeking additional funding opportunities. We will explore exclusive scholarships for children of veterans, active-duty, National Guard, and reservists and share insights into eligibility, criteria, and application tips. If your student plans to be enrolled in either an undergrad or graduate program in the next academic year, this session will provide scholarship resources that will be beneficial for them.

The Loyal Musketeer Scholarship

Is your student considering Graduate School? The Loyal Musketeer Scholarship makes it more attainable than ever! The Loyal Musketeer Scholarship reduces the graduate tuition rate by 25% and is available to all Xavier alumni enrolling as degree-seeking graduate students.
