Housing Application & Selection

Welcome to Xavier University's Housing Application & Selection page.

This resource is designed to provide all the essential information for applying for on-campus housing and participating in the selection process. You will find key dates, detailed instructions, and important updates to ensure a smooth and successful experience. Please review the information below to get started.

For more general housing-related questions please read our FAQ page.

Xavier University 2 Year Residency Requirement

Xavier has a two year live-on requirement for students whether they are coming in as a first-year student or transfer student. All unmarried incoming students, age 17-21, not residing with their legal guardian, or whose home address is located beyond a 35-mile radius from Xavier are required to live on-campus for their first two years at the University.

Housing Accommodations Process

Students requesting accommodations for their housing assignment should refer to the Accessibility & Disability Resources (formerly Office of Accessibility and Disability Resources) for information and a timeline regarding the accommodations process. Students who receive a housing accommodation will have their assignment made by our office based on the recommendation provided by Accessibility & Disability Resources .

Students working to receive accommodations DO still need to submit the housing application on MyHousing.

Gender Inclusive Housing

Though we do not currently have dedicated gender inclusive housing facilities we are happy to work with individual students to select a housing assignment which best meets their needs.

Students may reach out directly to discuss the type of housing assignment needed for a successful academic year.  Inquiries can be sent to the Office of Residence Life email at reslife@xavier.edu or Associate Director, Tim Griffin at griffint5@xavier.edu

E-Mail Communications Policy

All communications regarding the housing assignments and room selection process will be sent to the student’s Xavier University e-mail address. It is the student’s responsibility to check this e-mail account regularly. Students are responsible for messages sent to this account including meeting deadlines and taking actions they are expected to take related to their housing.
