Residential Curriculum
MAGIS Residential Curriculum
The MAGIS Residential Curriculum (or simply MAGIS) is the guiding philosophy for events, activities, and learning opportunities facilitated in the residence halls1 at Xavier. In the spirit of our Jesuit value of "Magis", the residential curriculum has been developed to encourage Xavier students who live on campus to seek and find the most meaningful experience they can get while living at Xavier.
MAGIS guides how Residence Life (including student Resident Assistants, professional-level Hall Directors, and central team members) approach the opportunities for personal growth that are provided to students in an on-campus living experience, while ensuring we create a memorable and fun experience for students that they can only find at Xavier.

What is a residential curriculum?
A residential curriculum (or, more generally, curricular approach) is a systemic way to be more purposeful and strategic about how educators who work with students beyond the classroom can best facilitate student learning as an outcome of the student experience.2 By implementing a residential curriculum at Xavier, we are taking an intentional approach to activities, programming, learning opportunities outside of the classroom that create opportunities for engagement that are more meaningful, memorable, and valuable to students.
