Transfer Students

Welcome to Xavier University! We look forward to supporting you as you begin this next chapter of your academic journey. Below, you'll find important steps for advising and starting out.

Getting Started

New transfer students will complete their academic profile, order all official transcripts to Xavier's Office of Admission, and take their language & math placement exams. From there, an academic advisor will draft an initial schedule for review, and will invite the student for a meeting.

Complete Academic Profile: Using Road to Xavier, new students will complete their academic profile.

Transcripts: Any student who has successfully completed college-level course work at another institution of higher education must order their official transcript from each college/university attended to Xavier’s Office of Admission.

Credit Evaluation: After your transcripts have been received, a transfer credit evaluation is conducted by the Office of the Registrar during the transfer application process. Once a student is admitted, prospective transfers can view their official credit summary online before registering for classes.

Language and Math Placement Exam: You will need to complete your Language Placement & Math Placement Exam.

Scheduling and Advising: A Transfer Ambassador (typically a faculty member in your program) and a professional Academic Advisor in the Office of Advising and Learning Support will collaborate to draft your schedule for the coming semester. During this process, your placement tests, credit evaluation, and additional information from Road to Xavier are all taken into consideration.

The Transfer Ambassador or Academic Advisor will then reach out and schedule a meeting with you to review this schedule as well as onboarding information relevant to your transition to Xavier.

If you have a question about why something did not transfer as a specific requirement, you can:

  • Ask your OALS Academic Advisor / Transfer Ambassador during your initial meeting.
  • Respond to the email you received that contains your credit evaluation, or email the Registrar’s office at xureg@xavier.edu.
  • Reference TES (Xavier’s Transfer Equivalency System) to identify the correct equivalency from your previous institution.

APEX Transfer Advising:

Incoming transfer students in the Adult and Professional Education (APEX) program will have their schedules created by an APEX academic advisor after the student meets with the Assistant Director of APEX Admission and Recruitment for onboarding and to discuss necessary transition information. The advisor will reach out to schedule a meeting to review this schedule and to discuss and additional concerns and questions.

If you have a question about why something did not transfer as a specific requirement, you can:

  • Ask your APEX Advisor during your initial meeting
  • Respond to the email you received that contains your credit evaluation, or email the Registrar’s office at xureg@xavier.edu.
  • Reference TES (Xavier’s Transfer Equivalency System) to identify the correct equivalency from your previous institution
