Occupational Therapy - Fieldwork Education
Fieldwork education is a valuable component of Xavier University’s entry-level graduate program. Fieldwork provides the opportunity to connect the knowledge learned in the classroom to the various practice settings of occupational therapy.
“The fieldwork experience is designed to promote clinical reasoning and reflective practice, transmit the values and beliefs that enable ethical practice, and develop professionalism and competence in career responsibilities. The experience should provide the student with the opportunity to carry out professional responsibilities under the supervision of qualified personnel serving as a role model” (Standard C.1.0, ACOTE, 2018).
This website provides support to Level I and Level II fieldwork educators. This website may be useful for occupational therapy practitioners wanting:
- Ideas and information that are instrumental in establishing new fieldwork placements,
- Ideas and information that can assist occupational therapy practitioners who are new to the fieldwork educator role, and
- Ideas and information that provide support and continuing education to occupational therapy practitioners that have been in the fieldwork educator role for many years.
Please visit this site frequently, as it will be updated throughout the year with new ideas and information as it becomes available.
