Teaching Professor and Capstone Coordinator, Occupational Therapy Department
Marnie Renda OTD, OTR/L, ECHM is a teaching professor and the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator at Xavier University's doctoral occupational therapy program. Prior to working full-time at Xavier, Marnie was an adjunct faculty member for 10 years while also owning Rebuild Independence LLC, which provided OT home modifications and universal design remodeling for elders and persons with disabilities living at home.
Marnie has held several leadership positions for the American Occupational Therapy Association, including the Special Interest Section Home and Community Health Chair and Home Modification Network Coordinator. Marnie also co-authored the Complex Home Modifications Position Paper for AOTA. Additionally, she earned an Executive Certificate in Home Modifications from the University of Southern California. In 2021 Marnie was appointed to the Ohio OT Licensure Board, she will continue in this role until 2030.
Marnie earned a B.A. in Psychology at Lafayette College, a master's degree in occupational therapy from Springfield College, and, finally, a post-professional doctorate in occupational therapy from Chatham University in 2018. She has over 25 years of experience in healthcare in a variety of settings, including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, mental health centers, and the community. She specializes in community practice, home modifications, and inclusive design.
