Using Your Benefits
After a veteran is admitted to Xavier, they must follow the steps below to ensure that the Veterans Administration Benefits will be processed.
- Apply for the benefit you intend to use using the va.gov website to obtain your Certificate of Eligibility (COE). The COE is the official document that states the benefit that you have access to and your tier of eligibility.
- Submit your COE to the Veteran and Military Family Center at veterans@xavier.edu.
For Xavier University to process your VA benefits, you will need to provide a copy of your COE. Once you receive your COE please submit a copy of the form to the Veteran and Military Family Center at veterans@xavier.edu. Keep a copy for your records. - Submit a Request for Enrollment Certification (REC) Form for the term that you plan to use the benefit.
The Veterans Advisor within the Veteran and Military Family Center will certify your enrollment with the Veterans Administration. To ensure that this process is completed in a timely manner, we encourage submission of the REC as soon as class registration for the term is complete.
Once the REC is submitted for the term, your enrollment certification is submitted to the Veterans Administration for processing. If there are any changes made to your enrollment after submitting the REC, please notify the Veterans Advisor, Amber Schutte, at veterans@xavier.edu.
After the Veterans Administration has received your certification of enrollment, you will receive an email indicating that your benefits are being processed. Please allow up to six (6) weeks for processing by the Veterans Administration. - If you have any questions regarding your VA benefits, please feel free to contact the Veteran and Military Family Center at veterans@xavier.edu.
