Student-Centered Research Focus

The Escorcia Lab values the power of first-hand research experience. It allows undergraduates to connect theory with practice. It also empowers them to follow a journey of self-discovery that for many clarifies their career goals in STEM fields.

The purpose of publishing research work at the undergraduate level is to prepare future investigators to address scientific and social gaps. This is in line with Jesuit pedagogy which focuses on improving the self while helping others. At the Escorcia Lab, research design, execution, and communication are student-led with guidance from the principal investigator as well as other senior collaborators.
