Dr. Melissa Burwell

Dr. Burwell provides leadership for the Office of Academic Advising and Student Learning Support along with Student Athlete Academic Support Services. She brings experience from working in a variety of higher education settings, focused on student success at colleges in WI, MN, and PA. In addition, Melissa has worked at non-profit organizations serving low-income, first-generation students with the goal to increase access and success in high school and college. Dr. Burwell earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas (MN), a Master's degree from Shippensburg University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Gordon College. Her research interests include the examining the experience of women in student affairs leadership and higher education, navigating the dynamics of academic labor in a staff/administrator role, and evaluating strategies that support holistic student success.
