Housing/Roommate: 

Operations for housing and roommate selection can be found on the Housing Self Service Portal. There are documents of dates for housing found on www.xavier.edu/residence-life/housing-self-service 

  • When/where can I choose my roommate?
    • On the student’s Road to Xavier, there is a link to the housing self-service. Important dates include roommate pair formation on June 5th 2024 and June 13th 2024, students will receive their selection times between June 17-18. Honors and student athletes will receive their housing a week prior.
  • Where do I choose my housing selection?
    • Housing selection will be in the housing self service portal where roommate selection was finalized. Students roommate pairs are to have an individual log in on their assigned time and choose a room.
  • Can I change my dorm/roommate selection?
    • Once a student/pair has chosen their housing and roommate(s), there are to be no changes allowed until after move-in. Students are to meet with their hallway RA and make new arrangements after the first couple weeks of classes.

Move-In

  • How do I sign up for a move-in time? And what date do the slots open?
    • Sign up for move-in times are found in the housing self service portal. Once logged in, click into assignments and there will be a drop down menu where a student can select a time.
  • How do I make sure to complete the One Pass process?
    • The One Pass is the digital student ID card. By downloading the Transact eAccounts, a student can add their ID to their digital wallet. Once this is on your phone, you will have accesss to your dorm, room, and use the card to pay with campus dining and stores.
  • Is there any possibility of early move-in? Are there alternative housing options?
    • Unfortunately, the time slots shown on Housing Self-Service are the only available move it times. If a move in slot is desired, it is important to be attentive of when move-in selection is to select a time slot before it fills.
  • Can I change my move-in time?
    • Once move in time is selected, changing that is not available. This is to control the diffusion of traffic going in and out of campus. It is encouraged you come at the selected time.

Manresa

  • Are there alternatives to Manresa?
    • There are no alternatives to the Manresa Orientation Program. It is built to be an interactive experience for First-Years to become acquainted with the Xavier campus and community.
  • Do I need to sign up for Orientation?
    • When a student commits to Xavier, there is no need to sign up- they will automatically be added to the database of Manresa attendance.
  • What will dining options be? How do I communicate my necessary dietary accommodations?
    • On the Manresa schedule, there are meal times set for a student and their small group to share meals in the Hoff Dining Commons. While there are specific stations already for certain dietary restrictions, further questions for dining should be sent to auxiliaryservices@xavier.edu
  • Are there any pre-Orientation modules that must be completed? What happens if they are late?
    • Pre-Orientation modules/tasks are to be found in their Road to Xavier profile. It is greatly encouraged for these deadlines are to be met on time. If a student is unable to complete them on time, completion before arrival on campus is recommended.
  • I saw that there was an opening mass/ceremony? Is this mandatory?
    • After move-in, there is an official welcome ceremony that does include an all-inclusive mass. The ceremony highlights a speech given by our president, Dr. Colleen Hanycz, general Manresa information, and a student farewell. 
  • How many days of orientation is mandatory? What about commuter students?
    • It is important to attend all four days and activities that are put on the schedule. This includes small/combined group meetings, meals, and guest speaker/events. Commuter students are to engage in Manresa activities on the schedule sent out to the incoming class.
  • Do parents stay for Manresa?
    • At the end of the Welcome Ceremony on the first day, parents and families are to say their farewells and send their children to the first Manresa activity.

General

  • Mail Center
    • The mail center will be open, but it is important for packages to start rolling in once classes have begun. Students will be given a mailing address by their RAs.
  • Books
    • Before the Welcome Ceremony, students are encouraged to retrieve their books at the Xavier University Day One Book Depot. This building is found at the stoplight of Dana Ave and St Francis Xavier Way, facing the College of Business. If a student is unable to get books, their Orientation Leaders will make time during the program to bring their small group.
  • Walk Through of Classes
    • During the Manresa Program, there is designated time for students to orient themselves around the buildings where their classes will be held. They will be able to interact with Orientation Leaders who spend plenty of time in specific buildings for their major.
  • Engage XU
    • Prior to arriving on campus, please download the CampusGroups app. This app serves as the hub for a student's personalized Manresa schedule and is used for campus/club events throughout the academic year.
