Internships
Political Science majors are strongly encouraged to gain real-world experience through internships. In recent years, 94% of Political Science majors have completed at least one internship during their course of study and more than half completed two or more internships.
The Political Science Department offers students a number of different ways to earn course credit for participating in an internship. Our programs include:
- Campaign Internship Program - For students interested in interning for a congressional or state legislative campaign during the summer of 2018 (available in 48 states + the District of Columbia).
- Local Internship Program - For students interested in interning here in Cincinnati or wherever they call home. Offered in the Fall, Spring and Summer.
- State Politics Internship Program - A 7-8 Week full-time internship in the state capitol, Columbus Ohio, offered in the first half of each summer (housing available for students who need it).
- Washington, DC Internships - Students can earn Xavier credit by participating in the department's Washington, DC internship program through the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars. Offered in the Fall, Spring and Summer.
For more information, see the internship program pages along the left side of this web page or contact Dr. Mack Mariani, chair of the political science department.
