Minor - Military and Strategic Leadership

Description

The Military and Strategic Leadership Minor is designed to expose students to United States Army and Department of Defense Military coursework focused on Science and Leadership and will provide a way to recognize the completion of academic coursework required for Commissioning into the United States Army. These classes do not currently count for any academic major at Xavier University.

Requirement

The student must complete the requirements for both the United States Army Cadet Command (USACC) Basic Course and the USACC Advanced Course curriculum.  Prior to entering the USACC Advanced Course the student must successfully complete one of the following:

  1. The USACC Basic Course including all the following courses
    1. MlLS 101 – Leadership and Personal Development (3 Hours)
    2. MILS 102 - Freshman Leadership Lab 1 (1 Hour)
    3. MILS 103 – Introduction to Tactical Leadership (3 Hours)
    4. MILS 104 - Freshman Leadership Lab 2 (1 Hour)
    5. MILS 201 – Innovative Team Leadership (3 Hours)
    6. MILS 202 - Sophomore Leadership Lab 1 (1 Hour)
    7. MILS 203 – Foundations of Tactical Leadership (3 Hours)
    8. MILS 204 - Sophomore Leadership Lab 2 (1 Hour)
  2. Completed USACC Basic Camp
  3. Completed US Army Basic Training

This minor will consist of sixteen total credits consisting of the USACC Advanced Course Curriculum taught at Xavier University by a US Army Certified Instructor. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 must be attained including the following courses:

MlLS 301 - Adaptive Tactical Leadership (3 Hours)
MILS 302 - Junior Leadership Lab 1 (1 Hour)
MILS 303 – Leadership in Changing Environments (3 Hours)
MILS 304 - Junior Leadership Lab 2 (1 Hour)
MILS 401 - Developing Adaptive Leaders (3 Hours)
MILS 402 - Senior Leadership Lab 1 (1 Hour)
MILS 403 - Leadership in a Complex World (3 Hours)
MILS 404 - Senior Leadership Lab 2 (1 Hour)
