Academics

Academics is the NUMBER ONE priority in the All For One Battalion. Regardless of whether you spend a few years or a career in the Army, your degree and your grades will have a significant impact for the rest of your lives.

As Freshman, you will be immediately teamed up with other students under the mentorship of an upperclassmen Cadet. This is for Team Building, Transition Assistance, and Academic Tutoring.

Below is the list of ROTC classes that you will take at Xavier. In order to become an Officer in the Army, you must complete this curriculum and attend Advanced Camp during the summer between your junior and senior year at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Course Structure

Freshman Year

These courses focus on developing individual skills and confidence building which form the basis of leadership. These courses cover topics such as rappelling, marksmanship, first aid, and other fundamental skills. These courses are open to non-ROTC students without military obligation.

Sophomore Year

These courses focus on developing basic supervisory skills. These courses cover the same topics as the 100 level courses but in greater depth. These courses are open to non-ROTC students without military obligation. There is the option of attending Basic Camp during the summer after Cadet's Sophomore Year. Academic credit can be earned by registering for MILS 299* after Basic Camp is completed.

Junior Year

These courses focus on small unit leadership and are open only to students contracted for commissioning. These courses will prepare a student for attendance at Advanced Camp. During the summer between Junior and Senior Year Cadets attend Advanced Camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky. This is a 28-day course that is required for all contracted Cadets in order to graduate and commission. Academic credit can be earned by registering for MILS 399* after Advanced Camp is completed.
