Writing a Position Description

A well-written Position Description (PD):

  • Creates a shared understanding of position responsibilities and performance expectations

  • Assists in aligning Xavier's positions with similar jobs in the market

  • Supports workforce planning

Be specific: A PD's purpose is to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties.
