Autumn Blaze Maple

Acer x freemani

Overview

The Autumn Blaze Maple, also known as Freeman's Maple, is a resilient maple that is a combination of a red and silver maple tree that can grow as tall as 60 feet. This tree has simple five lobed leaves around 4 inches in length that are green in the summer with a silvery underside, and become vibrant shades of red-orange to yellow in the fall. It also has very smooth silver-gray bark that develops fissures as it ages.

Cultivation

The Autumn Blaze Maple can thrive in environments with full sun and can withstand a range of temperatures. The perfect soil for this tree is moist and well-drained. It does not require a lot of maintenance as they are considered to be hardy due to the strong branch trait of the red maple and quick growth trait of the silver maple.

Biodiversity Sustained

This is another example of a large tree that can provide large biodiversity due to its sheer size, being capable of providing homes and food for many different species of animal.
