Admission

Prospective undergraduate students begin the admission process through the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Go to the Selective Admission Programs website to learn about Xavier, the admission process, to get connected with an admission counselor, and to arrange a visit. 

Freshmen enrolled in the Xavier nursing program must complete the following prerequisite courses with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher and a grade of “C” or higher: BIO140, 141, 142, 143, and NUR130 in order to progress and begin sophomore-level nursing courses.

In addition to the progression policy above, students in the nursing major must earn grades of 'C' or higher for nursing, science, mathematics, and social science courses and must thereafter maintain a cumulative 2.70 grade point average to remain in the program.

Disqualification

A felony conviction or misdemeanor conviction may result in disqualification for state licensure (as outlined in Section 4723.28 of the Ohio Revised Code). Students are required to have a FBI/BCI background check and 10 panel drug screen performed annually and as requested by the Director of the College of Nursing and/or designee. The nursing student handbook specifies when the background check/ drug screen must be obtained.
