Breaking Barriers Scholarship
Eligibility
Students enrolled in any graduate business program (excluding EMBA) at Xavier University, dedicated to overcoming obstacles and driving change in business. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential, and a passion for creating opportunities for others.
Additional Perks
- Mentoring and career coaching through one of the WCB's Centers of Excellence
- WCB Speaker Series - Meeting the featured speaker, participating as a role model for local high school students, networking with business professionals, attendance at the luncheon (once per year)
- Dinner with the Dean
- Membership and access to NextUp Cincinnati's featured and networking events
- Networking opportunity at Cincinnati Business Courier’s 40 under 40 Awards Ceremony or C-suite Awards
Scholarship Commitments
- Attend networking and recruitment events
- Serve as mentor for future scholarship winners
- Support the Centers of Excellence as needed (no more than 1-2 hours per week)
Award determination
- Qualifying students will be determined based on their overall admission application
- Preference will be given to students who are currently not receiving other financial support
- Progress towards degree will be considered in the award distribution
- Individuals receiving tuition remission from Xavier University are not eligible
Application Deadline
Applications are for one academic year, i.e. Fall, Spring, and Summer I. Application deadlines are as follows:
- Friday, March 21st 2025, for award period Fall 25, Spring 26, Summer I 26: Preference given to returning students
- Friday, June 6th 2025, for award period Fall 25, Spring 26, Summer I 26:
- Friday, August 8th 2025, for award period Fall 25, Spring 26, Summer I 26: Preference given to new students
- Friday, November 14th 2025, for award period Spring 26, Summer I 26: Preference given to students enrolling in Spring 26
