Payment Plans for VA Beneficiaries
In order to be eligible for one of the Payment Plans listed below, you must submit the Request for Enrollment Certification form every semester. Upon submission of the Request for Enrollment Certification form, you will be automatically enrolled in a Payment Plan that is tailored to your VA Education Benefit. VA CH 30 (Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty/MGIB-AD) – Monthly Payment Plan
Upon enrollment, this monthly payment plan delays the due date of your first payment each semester. This allows time for you to receive your initial Ch. 30 payment from the VA. During the Fall and Spring semesters, this will be a five-month payment plan with due dates on the same day each month (September through January for the Fall semester; February through June for the Spring semester). During the Summer semester, this will be a four-month payment plan with due dates on the same day each month (June through September).
The VA Ch. 30 Montgomery GI Bill education benefit pays a monthly stipend directly to you to help offset tuition and fee costs. The VA will NOT make any payments on your behalf directly to the University. It is your responsibility to make payments to the University as your stipend is paid to you by the VA. Current Ch. 30 rates can be found at va.gov. You are subject to late fees if you do not pay the balance due each month. If your tuition and fees go unpaid through the end of the semester during which those fees were incurred, you may have your classes cancelled for the subsequent semester. VA CH 31 (Veteran Readiness and Employment/VR&E) – Tuition Deferral Plan
Upon enrollment, this Tuition Deferral Plan (TDP) will prevent past-due notices from being sent and late fees from being assessed to your account. This plan extends the due date of your total balance until 45 days after the end of the semester.
The VA Ch. 31 Veteran Readiness and Employment benefit may pay for a wide range of educational costs. Based on the VA Ch. 31 authorization issued by your VR&E counselor, your tuition and required fees will be paid by the VA directly to the University. You may also charge any in-store or online bookstore purchases directly to your Bursar account. However, it is your responsibility to understand which items the VA has authorized for purchase. If you charge items to your Bursar account that your VR&E counselor has not authorized, then you will ultimately be responsible for paying those charges. You may also incur additional educational expenses that will not be paid for by your VA Ch. 31 benefit. You are responsible for paying these expenses as they are incurred. Examples of additional charges that may not be covered by your VA benefit include, but are not limited to, the following: meal plans, parking tickets, books not returned fees, tuition insurance premium, etc. If such expenses go unpaid through the end of the semester during which they are incurred, you may have your classes cancelled for the subsequent semester. The VA Ch. 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill® may pay for a wide range of educational costs. Based on your Ch. 33 Tier of Eligibility, all or part of your required tuition and fees will be paid directly to the University. The VA Ch. 33 benefit will NOT pay the University for your Housing or Meal Plan charges. It is your responsibility to pay these fees directly. The VA Payment Plan allows you the flexibility to make payments monthly as you receive your Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) from the VA. You may also incur additional educational expenses that will not be paid for by your VA Ch. 33 benefit. You are responsible for paying these expenses as they are incurred. Examples of additional charges that may not be covered your VA benefit include, but are not limited to, the following: parking permits, parking tickets, books not returned fees, tuition insurance premium, hall damage fee, etc. If such expenses go unpaid through the end of the semester during which those fees are incurred, you may have your classes cancelled for the subsequent semester.
