Brandon Holmes
Brandon is a Cincinnati based stage manager that has been working professionally for 15 years. Originally from Kansas, he is a graduate from Wichita State University (WSU) with a BFA in Technical Theatre & Design. He worked as an Assistant Stage Manager at Music Theatre Wichita (MTW) assisting on over 20 large scale musicals over the course of four summers. Favorites include Les Miserables, The Producers, Miss Saigon, The Drowsy Chaperone, Crazy For You, Curtains, The Music Man, Sunset Boulevard, and Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
In 2010 he began as a stage management intern with the two-time Tony Award Recipient Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park (CPIP), where he remained for two seasons. Highlights as an intern include The Understudy, A Christmas Carol, Over the Tavern, The Pavilion, As You Like It, Merrily We Roll Along and Thunder Knocking on the Door. He was then hired to stage manage with Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (ETC), where he managed Alice in Wonderland and Freud’s Last Session. The following season, he was hired as the Production Stage Manager where he remained until Spring 2020. During his time at ETC, he managed over 40 productions with favorites being Tribes, The Mountaintop, Hands on a Hardbody, An Iliad, The Other Place, Detroit ’67, Grounded, Violet, The Legend of Georgia McBride, Brownsville Song (b-side for Tray), First Date, The Humans, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Fly By Night, Ripcord, Skeleton Crew, Fun Home and Pipeline.
During the summers, Brandon is also the Production Stage Manager with The Lexington Theatre Company (The Lex), where he has stage managed productions of Legally Blonde, The Music Man, A Chorus Line, West Side Story, Newsies, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Chicago, The Sound of Music, and Memphis. He also serves on the Inclusivity Advisory Collective for The Lex, which is a group of theatre artists that represent a wide variety of communities that advise The Lex Team on programming and policy decisions.
In August 2021, Brandon returned to CPIP as a full-time AEA stage manager. In recent seasons at Playhouse, he has stage managed the world premiere’s of The West End and Shane as well as productions of Steel Magnolias, The Lion, and The Chinese Lady. He is a member of the Kaleidoscope Collective, an employee resource group for Playhouse employees of color, and also a member of the LGBTQIA+ employee resource group.
Other stage management credits include Hello, Dolly!, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Side by Side by Sondheim (LOOK Musical Theatre), Red, White & Broadway and Golden: MTWichita at 50! (Music Theatre Wichita), virtual readings and workshops of Side Man, I Shall Not Be Moved (Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati), LET. HER. RIP., The Night of the Living Dead (Cincinnati Shakespeare Company), and Teddy Bear Mountain, When Statues Fall (Cleveland Play House). Brandon has been a proud member of Actors' Equity Association since 2012 and served on the Cincinnati/Louisville Area Liaison Committee for multiple years. He lives in Cincinnati with his husband, AJ, and is the dog dad of two, Toby & Ollie.
