Olivia Burklow

Spotlight Operator. Musical Theatre 2028. Olivia is beyond excited to be apart of this transformative experience that is Jesus Christ Superstar. This will be her first Xavier Theatre production and couldn’t be more excited. Olviai is involved with the Toolbox Improv Group and will be performing in The Choreographer’s Workshop in November. She would like to thank Joe Beumer and the rest of the production team for showing her the ropes on the tech side of a production. She feels that the hard work put into this show has been truly inspiring and it’s definitely not one to miss! She hopes you enjoy the show as much as she has!

Matthew Callas

Jesus. Musical Theatre 2025. Matthew is excited to perform his thesis role (and a dream role) at Xavier. You may have seen him recently at The Carnegie: Hello, Dolly! (Barnaby) and Tick, Tick… Boom! (Jon/Michael Standby); The Warsaw Federal Incline Theatre: 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip); as well as several Xavier Theatre productions. Darah Chandler

Light Board Operator. Musical Theatre 2027. Darah is a Sophomore at Xavier University and is delighted to be a part of Xavier's Musical Theatre Program. This is her first production at Xavier. Darah loves connecting and cheering for everyone in this production and is very excited you are here! Enjoy the show!

Mattie Cieplak

Mary Magdalene, Mob. Musical Theatre 2025. Mattie (she/her) has loved every moment of performing in Jesus Christ Superstar! Previous Xavier Theatre credits include Mamma Mia (Sophie), A Doll’s House, Part 2 (Emmy), Something Rotten! (Ensemble), LIZZIE The Musical (Lizzie), Love and Information (As Cast), and The Moors (Huldey). Post-graduation, she plans to stay in Cincinnati or return to the Chicagoland area. She is incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to this process, as well as her family for supporting her throughout her collegiate education, and everyone who has made the trek to Cincinnati these past four years for her.

Owen Clark

Annas. Musical Theatre 2025. Owen is beyond excited to be in Jesus Christ Superstar in his final year at Xavier. Some of his other accomplishments at Xavier include Carter Smith in John Proctor is the Villain, Max Detweiler in The Sound of Music, Joe in 9 to 5, Bard Boy/Ensemble in Something Rotten, Orpheus in Eurydice, and Ensemble in Mamma Mia!. He is also a proud member of Xavier Theatre’s Improv Troupe Toolbox, and one of our Scene Shop Supervisors.

Loften Cooper

The Apostle Jude Thaddaeus, Mob, Temple Seller and Leper. Theatre 2028. Loften H. Cooper is a first-year Theatre major, who is super excited to have his collegiate theatre debut be Xavier University's showing of Jesus Christ Super Star! Enjoy the show!

Kate Crisp

Dance Captain, Apostle, Temple Seller, Leper, Herod Dancer, Angel. Musical Theatre 2025. Kate is a senior Musical Theatre major and Arts Administration minor from Downers Grove, Illinois. At Xavier, she has been in Mamma Mia, Macbeth, Something Rotten, Lizzie, The Sound of Music, and The Prom! She has also been involved with costumes, lighting, and run crew. Kate would like to thank her mom for her endless support, her friends and family for coming to the show, and everyone backstage who is working so hard to make this show possible!

Mia D'Ascenzo

Temple Seller, Leper, Maid by the Fire, Ensemble, Mob, Herod Dancer. Theatre Education 2026. Mia is so excited to be part of Jesus Christ Superstar with Xavier University Theatre. Her past XUT credits include John Proctor is the Villain, Choreographers’ Workshop, The Sound of Music, 9 to 5, and Something Rotten! Outside of performing, Mia works in the scene shop and serves as vice president for Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society. Mia wants to thank her family, friends, and the incredible team that made this show possible.

Bridget Dean

Apostle, Temple Seller, Leper, Mob. Musical Theatre 2026. Bridget is thrilled to share the story of Jesus Christ Superstar with you. Bridget first stepped on stage at the age of two and has never looked back. Some of her favorite past shows include The Sound of Music (Sister Margaretta), The Moors (Marjory), 42nd Street (Ensemble), and High School Musical (Martha Cox). Bridget would like to thank her family and close friends for their endless support and guidance throughout her theatrical journey.

Brookelyn Duncan

Priest, Temple Seller, Leper, Mob. Musical Theatre 2026. Brookelyn is delighted to bring this production of Jesus Christ Superstar to life for you! Just a few of her favorite shows she has previously done include The Prom (Dee Dee Allen), The Sound of Music (Mother Abbess), Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins), All Shook Up (Natalie Haller), and Lizzie (Assistant Director). She is currently preparing to prop design for Xavier Theatre’s Student Showcase production of No Exit. She would like to thank her family and friends for their endless support, and her longtime mentor Sue Purtell for always reminding her to inspire, enrich, and entertain, both in life and on stage.

Raya Franklin

Apostle, Temple Seller, Mob. Theatre 2027. Raya has had so much fun working on Jesus Christ Superstar. This will be her third show with Xavier Theatre, having been in The Sound of Music (Nun/Fräulein Schweiger) and John Proctor is the Villain (Ensemble/U.S. Nell). She has sound designed for Non-Player Character. Favorite roles include Hotbox Dancer in Guys and Dolls (Pickerington Community Theatre), Ella in The Foreigner (Pickerington Community Theatre), and Mrs. Bumbrake in Peter and The Starcatcher (Bishop Hartley High School). Raya works as a Promotion Assistant at Radio One-Cincinnati and in her free time she enjoys watching horror films!

Nicole Grace

Priest. Musical Theatre 2028. This is Nicole’s first Xavier Theatre show and she has had a great experience! Her favorite past roles include The Queen of Hearts (Alice By Heart) and Titus Lartius (Coriolanus - Southbank Shakespeare). Nicole would like to thank her family for always supporting her and all her friends at Xavier Theatre.

Emma Halloran

Matthew the Apostle, Leper, Scaffold Seller, Mob. Musical Theatre 2025. Emma is so grateful to be a part of this impactful production! Working with this team has been such a rewarding experience and a great way to start her senior year. Past XUT credits include Non-Player Character (Naomi), Once (Baruska), and Mamma Mia (Ensemble). She is also a four-year member and co-president of Toolbox, Xavier Theatre’s improv troupe. Anna Hittepole

Spotlight Operator. Musical Theatre 2028. Anna is so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the crew for Jesus Christ Superstar! This the first Xavier Theatre production and she is excited to learn from the talented Joe Beumer, our lighting designer. Outside of theatre, she is involved in many activities around campus, including Young College Democrats. In November, she will be the Set Designer for the world premiere of Janitor’s Closet in the Student Showcase! Jesus Christ Superstar has been such a learning opportunity for her, and she hopes you enjoy the show!

Ben Hunt

Peter. Mob. Theatre 2027. At XT he has been in Twelfth Night (Sir Andrew), 9 to 5 (Josh), The Prom (Ensemble) and Our Town (Understudy/Vocalist). Technical roles include the Choreographers’ Workshop (Co-Light Designer), Love and Information (Props Designer), Something Rotten (Spotlight Operator), Measure for Measure (Run Crew) and Co-Light Design Janitor’s Closet and the Choreographers’ Workshop (Nov. '24). Ben is a member of Toolbox Improv Troupe and is employed in the Scene Shop at Xavier.

JJ Israel

Priest. Theatre, 2027. JJ (they/them) is thrilled to be in the first production of Xavier Theatre’s 24/25 season, Jesus Christ Superstar! Although they have been in many musicals before, this is their first-ever completely sung-thru musical. This is JJ’s third Xavier Theatre show. Their past credits include The Sound of Music (Ensemble) and John Proctor is The Villain (Ensemble / Ivy U/S).

Leo Jenkins

Simon, Mob. Musical Theatre 2026. Leo is very excited for you to see Xavier Theatre’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar! You may have seen him recently in Xavier Theatre’s The Prom as Trent Oliver or in CYPT’s most recent production of Anything Goes as Moonface Martin. He would like to thank the directing team, cast, crew, and orchestra for making the show an absolute joy to be a part of. He would also like to thank his family, friends, and Chuck for their constant support.

Taylor Mattingly

Mob, Angel, Herod Dancer, Temple Seller, Leper. Musical Theatre 2028. Taylor is so excited to be a part of her first production at Xavier Theatre! She has had the pleasure of doing shows like Little Women (Amy March), Seussical (Gertrude), and The Little Mermaid (Sebastian), who further encouraged her love of performing. Before her time here, she did shows with Theatre Under The Stars in Houston, including Sweeney Todd (Teen Ensemble) and Les Misérables (Prostitute #1, Texas All State Musical). She thanks her family for supporting her exciting journey and hopes that you enjoy the show!

Mary McMurray

The Apostle Philip, Temple Seller, Leper, Mob, Herod Dancer. Theatre, 2025. Mary is very excited to be a part of Jesus Christ Superstar. This is her 7th show onstage with Xavier Theatre including Lizzie, Twelfth Night, and Something Rotten. She has not only been onstage but has also had the pleasure of working on costumes for many shows, including this one. Mary would like to thank her parents for their unending support and her friends for the joy they bring her.

Sean Moss

The Apostle James of Alpheus, Mob, Temple Seller, Leper. Theatre 2026. Sean is in his third year at Xavier University and is thrilled to be a member of the wonderful cast of Jesus Christ Superstar. Sean would like to thank his family for being everything he could ever ask for and more, his friends for always being there for him, his cast for making this such a joyous experience, and God for the tremendous work he has been doing in Sean’s life. Sean would also like to give a specific shout out to the crew, design team, and stage management team that has worked tirelessly to make this show all that it wonderfully is!

Reece Niederhausen

Stage Manager. Theatre Education, 2025. Reece is absolutely ecstatic to be stage managing his first ever musical for Xavier Theatre. This will be Reece's twelfth show with the Xavier Theatre program and for many of those shows he has served as a member of the stage management team in some capacity. After Jesus Christ Superstar closes, Reece will continue to work on Janitor's Closet the world premiere of his first play which will be produced in November as part of Xavier's Student Showcase. He hopes you stick around to see all of the wonderful productions this program produces year after year!

Gracie Phlipot

Audio 2, Costume Crew. Musical Theatre 2027. Gracie grew up in Fishers, IN and is now a sophomore Musical Theatre major at Xavier University with minors in Public Relations and Management. This is her fourth production at Xavier and her first tech role. You have previously seen has her on stage in The Sound of Music, The Choreographers’ Workshop, and The Prom. Gracie's love for dance has allowed her to take on multiple choreography roles in the past, and she will be choreographing for The Choreographers’ Workshop later this Fall. Gracie would like to thank everyone working on Jesus Christ Superstar for making it a memorable experience!

Josi Pietrzyk

Herod, Temple Seller, Leper, Mob. Musical Theatre 2027. Josi is overjoyed to be a part of her third XUT production! She has previously appeared as Moor-hen (The Moors) and Student/Shelby u/s (John Proctor is the Villain). Outside of Xavier, some of her favorite roles include Alice (Titanic), Herb (Godspell), and Jo (Little Women). When she is not on stage or in rehearsal, she likes to play board games and collect Carebear merch. She wants to send a huge thank you to the entire cast, crew and directing team for making this show an incredible experience! She also wants to thank her family and friends for supporting her. Cohen Rice

The Apostle John, Leper, Mob, Temple Seller. Musical Theatre 2027. Cohen is so excited to be a part of his first show of his sophomore year. He would like to thank his family and friends who come to support him, as well as the amazing cast and crew who have made every rehearsal a great environment to be in. Past credits at Xavier include The Prom (Sheldon) and The Sound of Music (Franz). He hopes you enjoy the show!

Tierra London Rush

Caiaphas, Dance Captain. Musical Theatre 2025. This is Tierra’s 12th production with Xavier Theatre and her eighth onstage role. In addition to a B.A. in Musical Theatre she is earning minors in Digital Media and Writing. Post-grad Tierra plans to stay in Cincinnati and work professionally and she hopes to eventually move to New York. Jesus Christ Superstar has been one of the most rewarding processes she’s been a part of. Tierra has learned so much about herself as an artist and has enjoyed watching each of her castmates grow! She cannot wait for audiences to witness this story of love, betrayal, and forgiveness.

Kyra Sander

Fly Rail Crew. Musical Theatre 2027. Kyra is a sophomore at Xavier University from Cincinnati, Ohio. It is her fourth production at Xavier, and second production on crew. Last year, Kyra was seen on stage in The Sound of Music and in The Choreographer's Workshop as a dancer. Behind the scenes, Kyra worked as a spot-light operator on The Prom. In November, Kyra will choreograph for Xavier Theatre's, The Choreographer's Workshop, a student-organized dance concert. Kyra would like to congratulate the entire cast and crew for their hard work and dedication on this show!

Julianne Schultz

Mob, Ensemble. Theatre 2027. Julianne is excited to be in her second year studying theatre at Xavier University. From the Chicago area, Julianne started performing in community theatre productions at the age of eight, but her desire to major in theatre only began to manifest itself when she participated in her middle school’s production of Newsies. In addition to Jesus Christ Superstar, she has been involved in Xavier Theatre’s productions of Love and Information, Non-Player Character, and The Prom, either as a cast member or working behind the scenes. Now a year into her college education, Julianne cannot wait to see what amazing experiences are in store for her.

Boston Slack

Assistant Stage Manager. Theater 2028. Boston is a first-year student at Xavier University from Cincinnati, OH. This is his first show with Xavier Theatre and he is incredibly excited to be a part of such an amazing program with so many amazing and talented people. Reilly Somerville

Costume Crew, Run Crew. Musical Theatre 2027. Reilly is a sophomore at Xavier University from Cincinnati, Ohio. This is her fourth production with Xavier Theatre and her second crew position within the program. Previously, she was a part of the stage management team for The Sound of Music and was seen onstage in Xavier Theatre’s Choreographers’ Workshop and The Prom. Anya Sperber

The Apostle Bartholomew, Temple Seller, Leper, Angel. Musical Theatre, Theatre Education, 2028. Anya is so excited to be part of her first production with Xavier Theatre. Anya has previously performed with Saint Ursula Theatre in productions such as The Sound of Music (Maria) and Decision Height (Virginia Hascall). Anya would like to thank her family, teachers, and friends for encouraging her love of performing and helping her up to this moment.

Brianna Starkey

Audio 1. Musical Theatre 2027. This is my first show as an A1 but I have done run/costume crew for two other shows at Xavier. Shows outside of Xavier include, most recently, Anastasia. Brianna was a dancer in the 2023 production of The Choreographers Workshop. This semester she is a choreographer in the 2024 Choreographers Workshop. She looks forward to all the amazing things she will continue to do at Xavier and can't wait to see what all of my fellow artists do in the upcoming shows!

Jamie Swisshelm

Judas. Musical Theatre 2027. Jamie is thrilled to be a part of the stellar cast of Jesus Christ Superstar! Recent Xavier credits include John Proctor is the Villain (Run Crew), The Prom (Emma), and The Sound of Music (Louisa). Recent community credits include Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre’s productions of Anything Goes (Reno), Jesus Christ Superstar (Pilate), and Grease (Jan), and Covedale Theater’s A Christmas Carol (Martha) and Elf: The Musical (Featured Ensemble). They will light design Xavier Theatre’s upcoming Student Showcase. Thanks to Stephen, Scot, Jenna, Emma, Aiden and Kelsey for supporting and guiding them throughout this process. Veronica Talbert

Costume Crew. Musical Theatre 2027. Veronica is a sophomore at Xavier University. This is her fourth production here at Xavier Theatre and her second time on the costume crew. She was previously in this position for John Proctor is the Villain and onstage in The Sound of Music and The Prom. She is very excited for everyone to experience the vivid impact of this show!

Corinne Tiernan

Assistant Stage Manager. Theatre, 2027. Corinne is in her second year at Xavier University and this is her fourth production at Xavier Theatre. Previously she was on costume crew for The Sound of Music, spotlight operator for The Prom, and danced in two songs in Choreographer's Workshop last spring. Hannah Wolke

Costume Crew. Theatre Education 2028. Hannah is delighted to be making her debut with Xavier Theatre. Her most recent shows include Rent with CAST, Alice by Heart with Anderson Theatre, and The Mousetrap with Anderson Theatre. She also recently been in a short film called Deadringer by TOAST Film Camp. She is so incredibly proud of all the work the directors, cast, and crew have completed on this show. It has been a true blessing to start college theatre off with an amazing group of incredibly talented peers. She would love to thank her friends and family for the support on this production and her future endeavors.

Maria Zierolf

Pilate, Ensemble. Musical Theatre, 2024. Maria is thrilled for her final show onstage with Xavier University Theatre. You may have seen her previously as Ensemble (The Sound of Music), Lizzie (LIZZIE), Portia (Something Rotten), Boy Macduff (Macbeth), or Lisa (Mamma Mia!) at XUT. She is extremely thankful for all of her professors, voice teachers, mentors, and classmates for their constant support. Joe Beumer

Scenic and Lighting Designer. Recent designs Indecent (Connecticut Critics Circle Award – Playhouse on Park), Dracula: The Bloody Truth (Great Lakes Theater), Thumbprint (Portland Opera), La bohème (Pacific Symphony), Tosca (Palm Beach Opera), Don Giovanni (Opera Colorado), and Speakeasy Times Square (Bond 45 – NYC). Joe has designed scenery and/or lighting for over 30 productions at Xavier University. Some additional credits include: Harmony (Broadway), The Book of Mormon (Current National Tour), The Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol (First National Tour, Los Angeles),and Days of Wine and Roses (World Premiere – Atlantic Theater Company).

Dr. Scot Buzza

Music Director, Conductor. Dr. Buzza has had an international performing career that includes solo appearances in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Venezuela. He has been principal violist of orchestras in Tokyo and Barcelona and his solo recitals have been broadcast on Radio France, PBS, Radio Amsterdam, Tokyo NHK and Radio Catalunya. He is visiting professor of musicology at the University of Kentucky, focusing on 18th-century Sacred Music and 20th-century American Musical Theatre. Buzza is director of the Kentucky Institute of International Studies in Salzburg, Austria, where he taught since 2009.

Aiden Dalton

Assistant Director. Aiden is a native Cincinnatian and professional theatre artist. They attended Xavier University, receiving their B.A. in Theatre with a Writing minor. After graduating they continued their training with the Professional Acting Apprentice program at Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (ETC). Since then Aiden has worked professionally at companies like ETC, American Legacy Theatre, South Bank Shakes, as well as directing and acting in independent work with Cincinnati Fringe and more. Aiden is excited to now serve as the Theatrical Director for The Ghostlight Stage Company.

Logan Herrera

Drums. Logan is a current student at Xavier University finishing his senior year of his Music Production & DIFT double major. He is Florida raised but is sticking around in Cincinnati to pursue a career in Film, Television & Music. His love of musicals started in high school and he has been drumming in as many shows as he could since.

Emma Hunt

Assistant Director. Emma graduated from Xavier in 2023 where she majored in Musical Theatre and minored in Digital Media. You may have seen her in shows such as American Idiot, Once, Something Rotten, Lizzie, and more! After graduating, Emma worked with Anderson High School's theatre program as music director and technical director of props and set decoration. Emma is so excited to be back at Xavier helping with this show. Emma thanks her family, roommates, friends, and boneless chuck for the constant support. Jason Meusel

Bass. Jason is in his final year of studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He is very excited to be a part of the Xavier Theatre music team! He has studied both the double bass and the electric bass for 12 years. Despite most of his training being classical, Jason has found his passion playing in pit orchestras. He has performed across the East Coast and parts of the Midwest. Some of his favorite pit projects include West Side Story, Once On This Island, Rent, and a performance of the works of Steven Flaherty at Carnegie Hall.

Katie Noth

A-1/Sound Mixer. Katie is a recent graduate of Xavier and participated in many shows during her time here. A few notable roles of hers include Assistant technical director of the Student Showcase Series in 2024 and mix engineer and assistant scenic designer for 9 to 5. She is very excited to be back for another Xavier Theatre production and hopes you enjoy the show.

Jessica Pitcairn

Costume Designer. Jessica has designed costumes for Xavier Theatre since 2017. Favorite XUT designs include: Mr. Burns: a post electric play, Heathers the Musical, and Lizzie.Jessica was born and raised in Cincinnati, and spent nearly a decade in New York City working in television, film, and theatre. Television credits: Law & Order, Fringe, Unforgettable, Blue Bloods, and The Slap. Film credits: Eat Pray Love, Taking Woodstock, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. Theatre credits: Manhattan Theatre Club, Lincoln Center Theatre, and McCarter Theatre. Jessica has designed for The Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Shakespeare Co, The Know Theatre, and The Human Race.

Tony Sammond

Guitar. Tony is excited to be playing guitar (electric/acoustic) again for Xavier Theatre! He plays guitar for various community and university theaters around Cincinnati as well as for his church in Milford. Past musical theater credits include: LIZZIE (Xavier Theatre), Cabaret (CMT), Priscilla Queen of the Desert (CMT), Kinky Boots (CMT), The Prom (CMT), Mamma Mia! (IHHS & Encore), Grease (IHHS & GHCT), Monty Python’s Spamalot (IHHS), Violet (NKU), James & The Giant Peach (Bart’s Bards), Percy Jackson Lightning Thief (Acting Up).

Alec Schneider

Production Electrician. Alec to Xavier University for the 24-25 season and Jesus Christ Superstar after graduating from Xaiver Theatre in 2023. Alec is thrilled to be back working with the people he loves. Jesus Christ Superstar is the 6th show Alec has worked on at Xavier since graduating. Outside of Xavier, Alec is a freelance lighting technician, working with theatres like Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and Ensemble Theatre! He also works for 3CDC, putting on events around downtown Cincinnati at Fountain Square, Washington Park, and Memorial Hall. He is currently Production Electrician for St. Xavier High School and their production of You Can't Take It With You.

Kelsey Schwarber

Assistant Director. Kelsey is Cincinnati-based teaching artist, performer, and proud alumni of Xavier Theatre ‘21. Recent credits include White Christmas (Rhoda), Boeing Boeing (Gloria), and The Last Witch of Ireland (Bridget Cleary). Some of her favorite Xavier credits include Chicago (Roxie Hart), One (Emily), Urinetown (Little Sally), and mr. burns; a post electric play (Maria). When she is not onstage you can find her as the Theatre Director at Saint Ursula Academy where she teaches grades 9-12 and directs the three Mainstage productions annually. Her advice to current students at XUT: be the solution-based collaborator and cling to your community.

Jason Sebastian

Sound Designer (he/him/his) Jason has been working freelance in live performance for over 25 years. He lived in New York for 10 years after graduating from CCM and worked in venues such as St. Ann’s Warehouse, P.S. 122, Dance Theater Workshop (NYLA) and The Chocolate Factory. He is currently the sound engineer for theater company Elevator Repair Service, working on The Select, Gatz, Arguendo, Measure for Measure, Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge, The Seagull, and most recently Ulysses. For Xavier he has designed 9-5, The Sound of Music, The Prom, and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Tyler Secor

Keyboard 2. Tyler is a native of Warsaw, IN and holds a M.A. degree in Music Theory from the University of Oregon, a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Theory and Composition and Piano Performance from Manchester University (formerly Manchester College, North Manchester, IN) and a Bachelor of Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago. Tyler currently serves as the Director of Publications & Content Development at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Tyler specializes in collaborative work with vocalists, choirs and musical theatre, and served for seven season as the pianist and assistant director of the Indianapolis Women’s Chorus.

Jenna Treinen

Choreographer. (She/her). Jenna is a Xavier University alumni, with a B.A. in Musical Theatre. She is a current jazz, tap, and musical theatre instructor at Beyond the Barre and a local actor and choreographer. she enjoys sharing her time between the stage and the classroom, and is thrilled to be inspiring young performers just as she was inspired by her own instructors. She has a deep passion for speaking through movement and creating a comfortable and enthusiastic room, where everyone can find a judgment-free space to develop technique and new skills, as well as just have fun exploring the joy of dancing as a community.
