Fall 2024 Audition Information

Announcing AUDITIONS for Xavier Theatre’s Fall productions of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, NO EXIT, JANITOR'S CLOSET and THE CHOREOGRAPHERS' WORKSHOP!!

DATES
Auditions will take place August 23, 2023 – August 26, 2024. Callbacks will take place on Sunday, August 25 (and August 26 as needed). 

For JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR:

  • Auditions will take place in multiple phases, including a general audition, dance call and callbacks. In-person, general auditions on Friday and Saturday will be held in the Gallagher Student Center Theatre.
  • For the general audition, please sign up for a time on either Friday, August 23 from 6pm-10:30pm, or on Saturday, August 24 from 10:00am - 1:30pm here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A084AABAE29AAFF2-50635702-xtfall#/
  • Please prepare one of the character sides listed below. You can email Stephen Skiles, Director of Theatre, for the sheet music and accompaniment track for the song you choose at skiless1@xavier.edu. General auditions will be sung by using the tracks and not an accompanist.
  • Auditioners must also sign up for a one-hour dance call on Saturday, August 24 at either 2:00pm, 3:00pm or 4:00pm. Please wear comfortable clothing to dance/move in and either gym or jazz shoes (anything with good traction by with no heels).   • Please bring two copies of your headshot and resume to the general audition.
  • Callbacks will take place on Sunday, August 25 from 1:00-7:00pm and again on Monday, August 26 (as needed) from 6:00pm - 10:30pm.

 For NO EXIT & JANITOR'S CLOSET

  • Auditions for NO EXIT & JANITOR'S CLOSET will take place on Friday and Saturday (August 23 and 24) in the Gallagher Student Center Studio Theatre.
  • Please sign up for one, 5-minute time slot on either Friday or Saturday at this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A084AABAE29AAFF2-50635859-xtfall#/
  • Please prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary, dramatic monologue (for NO EXIT) and prepare one side from JANITOR'S CLOSET (please email Stephen Skiles at skiless1@xavier.edu for sides). A reader will be in the room to perform the scene with you. Sides should not be memorized, but thoroughly prepared. The role you prepare may not be the only for which you are considered.
  • Please bring two copies of your headshot and resume to the audition.
  • Callbacks will take place on Sunday, August 25 from 1:00-7:00pm, and again on Monday, August 26 from 6:00-10:30pm (as needed)

 For THE CHOREOGRAPHERS' WORKSHOP:

  • Auditions for THE CHOREOGRAPHERS' WORKSHOP will take place in the Dance Studio in Edgecliff Hall (201).

  • Please wear clothes that you can dance and move in comfortably, along with either heels or jazz shoes (if you have neither, please wear sneakers).
  • Please come warmed up and stretched out prior to your call.

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  • All Xavier Theatre majors must audition for ALL shows. Non-majors can choose to audition for the show(s) of their choosing.
MASTER SCHEDULE
Friday, August 23
6:00-10:30pm: General Auditions for Xavier University students for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (GSC Theatre), NO EXIT & JANITOR'S CLOSET (GSC Studio Theatre).
 
Saturday, August 24
10am-1:30pm: General Auditions continue for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (GSC Theatre), NO EXIT & JANITOR'S CLOSET (GSC Studio Theatre).
2pm-5pm: Dance Auditions for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.
 
Sunday, August 25
1pm-7pm: Callbacks for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (GSC Theatre), NO EXIT & JANITOR'S CLOSET (GSC Studio Theatre).

Monday, August 26 
6pm-7pm: Callbacks (as needed for JCS, NO EXIT and JANITOR'S CLOSET)
7pm-10pm: Dance auditions for THE CHOREOGRAPHERS' WORKSHOP in Edgecliff 201.
 
Tuesday, August 29
6:30pm: Rehearsals will begin for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
 

PLEASE NOTE THAT TECHNICAL REHEARSALS FOR JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR WILL RUN DURING FALL BREAK, AND ALL CAST AND CREW ARE REQUIRED TO BE AVAILABLE (OCT. 2-6).
