About the Instructors

Ken Mullis, ABMDI-Diplomat
Xavier MS Criminal Justice

Ken Mullis’ law enforcement and forensic investigations career has spanned nearly 30 years. He began his law enforcement journey in 1997 with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, where he specialized in traffic drug interdiction and served as a K9 handler. For the next 20 years, he served at the Union Township Police Department, a community east of Cincinnati, OH. During his tenure, he became a key member of the Clermont County Narcotics Unit, the Clermont County Special Response Team, and the criminal division commander at UTPD. Mullis is now Chief Coroner Investigator and Criminalist for Clermont County, OH. He also holds a Diplomate certification from the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators, and is a certified polygraph examiner. Ken and his wife Christina also co-host a true-crime podcast, “Beyond the Autopsy,” on Spotify, launching in April 2025.

Christina Mullis, MBA
Xavier BA Communications
Christina created the “bones” of the CSI camp over 18 years ago when working at a youth-serving non-profit. She collaborated with Ken to ensure the curriculum taught the proper techniques and the correct terminologies, such as “spatter,” not “splatter.”  Christina has led CSI camps for several hundred students. She has built relationships with law enforcement officials from all over Ohio to bring their passion and expertise to students interested in forensics and crime scene investigations. Christina loves teaching teens and young adults skills for discerning their future, and she assists Ken in teaching the camp curriculum. When she’s not thinking about crime scenes or watching true crime television shows, she recruits Musketeers in Xavier’s admissions office and teaches GOA to first-year students. Ken and Christina have been married for over 26 years and have one son who will graduate from Xavier in May 2025 with a BS in Criminal Justice. They are also proud pet parents to one tiny dog and three black/tuxedo cats.
