Ray Flannery
Assistant Director for Student Organizations
Ray Flannery is originally from Hinckley, Ohio. He attained his Bachelor of Arts from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he majored in Sociology & Criminology, and Spanish & Hispanic Studies. He also completed minors in Leadership Development and Population & Public Health. During his undergraduate years, Ray was highly involved in campus activities and leadership roles, serving as a Resident Assistant and Senior Resident Assistant for the Office of Residence Life, Student Leadership Team contributor for community service opportunities, and a member of the competitive speech and debate team. He also held several on-campus jobs, including lifeguarding at the campus recreation center natatorium.
Following his time at JCU, Ray attended the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland for his Master of Public Health specializing in Behavioral and Community Health. As a graduate student, Ray served as a Graduate Assistant in the Division of Student Affairs. He spent time as Advisor to the Interfraternity Council and served as a Resident Director for a chapter on campus. He also functioned as the Risk Management Graduate Assistant.
Ray began at Xavier during the Summer of 2024. His primary focus is on supporting student organization leaders and members to enrich their learning and wellbeing during their time at XU.
