Department of Philosophy

Philosophy Lab

What is the Philosophy Lab?

The Philosophy Lab is part of the Philosophy Department here at Xavier University. The Phil Lab is located in Hinkle Hall (across the quad from the Library and Alter), Room 243, and it provides free support for anyone taking a philosophy class at XU.

It’s a space for students to study philosophy, to get help with whatever questions or confusions they’re having in philosophy, or just to hang out and talk with others about philosophy.

The staff in the center can help with any part of your work for your class:

  • suggestions for how to read philosophy
  • help understanding an assignment
  • help generating ideas for an assignment
  • help talking through a confusing idea from class, or from the reading

The Lab is staffed by Philosophy Faculty and Philosophy Majors.
