Licensure and Credential Programs

Welcome to our Elementary Online Blended Course Montessori Credential 6-12 Program, where passionate educators like you can embark on a transformative journey to deepen their understanding of Montessori philosophy and methodology, while earning university credits and the opportunity for credentialing.

Program Overview: Our program offers a comprehensive exploration of Montessori education tailored for educators working with children aged 6-12, encompassing foundational concepts, practical classroom methods, and advanced curriculum strategies.

Master of Education Option: In addition to earning your Montessori credential, you have the option to pursue a Master of Education degree, enhancing your professional qualifications and opening doors to new opportunities in the field of education.

  • Early Childhood Overview (EDME 508): Dive into the Montessori philosophy for 3-6-year-olds, laying the groundwork for your journey.
  • Montessori Global Leadership (EDME 560): Learn research-based practices for engaging diverse communities and advocating for high-fidelity Montessori education.
  • Montessori Classroom Methods (EDME 600): Develop strategies for designing a Prepared Environment and implementing the 'Cosmic Curriculum'.
  • Practicum Experience (EDME 680/681): Put theory into practice through a hands-on practicum, interacting with children and families in real classroom settings.

Credentialing Requirements: Successful completion of designated courses, totaling 52 credits and 650 hours, fulfills the requirements for the American Montessori Society (AMS) Elementary I credential. Further, our program offers pathways for the AMS Elementary II credential and a Master of Education degree.

Academic Requirements for Completion of Credentialing Requirements
The successful completion (B- or above) of the following courses are required to enter into the practicum phase.
502.5 hours from this coursework are applied to the required hours for the American Montessori Society (AMS)
Elementary I credential.

Phase. 1,080 hours from the Practicum Phase is applied toward the required hours for the American Montessori
