Richtermeyer Next Director of Faculty Programs in Mission and Identity

CINCINNATI, 23 Jan. - Debra Mooney, PhD, assistant to the president for Mission and Identity/chief mission officer at Xavier University, announces that Sandra Richtermeyer, PhD, chair and professor of accountancy, will serve as the university's next director of Faculty Programs in Mission and Identity, effective fall 2013. In this half-time position, Richtermeyer will support faculty colleagues in transforming students in the Ignatian-Jesuit educational tradition by designing innovative professional development experiences for faculty within the Center for Mission and Identity's Ruth J. and Robert A. Conway Institute for Jesuit Education. She will collaborate with national networks including the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and the Lilly Fellows Program in the Humanities and Arts.

"Dr. Richtermeyer is a highly respected campus leader and colleague. She has noteworthy leadership experience in mission-critical areas such as the University Mission Statement Task Force, the Faculty Discernment Group, the Conway Institute for Jesuit Education's Advisory Committee and the Core Curriculum Committee," says Mooney. "With her knowledge of Ignatian pedagogy and commitment to enhancing faculty development, she will undoubtedly assist in advancing strategic goals related to Xavier's mission, identity, vision and values."

Richtermeyer's teaching interests are in corporate governance, managerial and nonprofit accounting, and accounting information systems. She has been a board member at several nonprofits and was the global chair for the Institute of Management Accountants. In 2012, she was selected as one of "One Hundred Wise Women" in Cincinnati and in 2011 named outstanding educator by the American Women's Society of CPAs and educator of the year by the Lean Enterprise Institute. She received her PhD, MS and MBA from the University of Colorado and a BS from the University of Wyoming. She lives in Mason, OH.

With terms of three years, Richtermeyer will be the third Xavier faculty member to assume the director of Faculty Programs position. The current director, David Burns, DBA, professor of marketing, developed Xavier's Mission Academy and Gillian Ahlgren, PhD, professor of theology, designed the Taking Time to Think program. Both original activities were supported by grants from the Lilly Fellows Program in the Humanities and Arts.
