CPT Michael Kirch is from Youngstown, New York. He received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Xavier University in May 2016 where he also commissioned as an Aviation Officer.
CPT Kirch graduated from Aviation BOLC and flight school in January of 2018 as a rated AH-64D Apache pilot. Upon graduation he was assigned to Fort Drum, NY and served as the Battalion S4 and a Platoon Leader with Alpha Company, 1-10 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB), 10th Mountain Division. CPT Kirch deployed in 2019 in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel and Operation Resolute Support to Afghanistan. Upon completion of his line Platoon Leader time, he attended and graduated from the Aviation Captain’s Career Course and Air Cavalry Leaders Course at Fort Novosel, Alabama. CPT Kirch returned to Fort Drum, New York where he served as an assistant operations officer in 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, Commander of Bravo Company, 1-10 Attack Battalion (AB), and Delta Company, 10th Aviation Regiment (Gray Eagle) before returning to Xavier University as an Assistant Professor of Military Science.
CPT Kirch’s awards include the Army Aviator Badge, Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1CS), and Air Medal with Combat device.
CPT Kirch has been married to his wife, Lesley, a 2015 graduate of Xavier University, for 6 years. They have two daughters, Kennedy and Mallory.
