Welcome, Janet B. Reid PhD
Janet B. Reid, Ph.D. is CEO of BRBS World, LLC, a private management consulting consortium that specializes in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). She and the consortium serve forward-leaning clients whose success is dependent upon building world-class leaders. She has extensive board of trustees/board of directors’ experience and has a long track record of leadership in business and civic affairs.
Dr. Reid was a founder of the international management consulting firm Global Novations, LLC. Global Novations, a former Goldman Sachs portfolio company, conducted client work in over 50 countries and specialized in building organizational capacity and innovation through effective talent management on a DEI platform. Prior to the acquisition of Global Novations by Korn/Ferry International, Dr. Reid held the positions of Managing Partner and member of the Board of Directors. Prior to founding Global Novations, Dr. Reid spent a decade at The Procter & Gamble Company, where she was first an innovation and product development leader and later a marketing executive. In addition to her scientific and marketing contributions, Dr. Reid was a pioneer in leading diversity and inclusion initiatives with Procter & Gamble.
She is a thought leader in DEI, having co-authored the books The Phoenix Principles: Leveraging Inclusion to Transform Your Company and The Phoenix Principles Work Book with Mr. V. Randolph Brown. Her third book, again co-authored with Mr. Brown, is titled Intrinsic Inclusion: Rebooting Your Biased Brain. It explores the intersection of diversity, inclusion, and neuroscience and has recently been released.
She and Mr. Brown are the developers of the concepts of Cultural Dexterity™, Familiarity, Comfort and Trust™ (FCT), Global Beads™, and many other intellectual properties of Global Novations. Dr. Reid also created the powerful executive coaching and team building solutions named Success Path™, Success Path Pairs™, and Success Path Teams™, respectively. The Success Path™ suite of coaching options has had a significant impact on hundreds of executives worldwide.
Dr. Reid has consulted world-wide on all aspects of DEI with CEOs/presidents, C-suite executive teams, boards of directors, boards of trustees, and all levels of associates and employees. She has worked with large multi-national entities in many sectors including: media and entertainment, technology, consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, retail, financial services, utilities, hospitality and leisure, education, IT, and others.
While having worked in many countries and continents, she has especially deep experience in China due to 20-plus years of consulting there.
Dr. Reid has a great passion for higher education and healthcare, and she has a long history of community and business leadership.
In higher education, she completed a nine-year term on the Board of Trustees of The Ohio State University. Her service included being Vice Chair of the Board, Chair of the Governance Committee, Chair of the Advancement Committee, Vice Chair of the Talent and Compensation Committee, and member of the Academic Affairs and Student Life Committee. She also served on the Board of Trustees of the Wexner Center for the Arts, the university’s contemporary arts center.
For over 20 years, she has been on the Board of Trustees of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her service has included being Chair of the Integrated Student Success Committee (Academic Affairs and Student Life combined), Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee, Chair of the Diversity Committee, and member of the Executive and Governance Committees.
Dr. Reid grew up in higher education, living on the campus of Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, a historically Black college/university (HBCU) where her father served as President, and having had her first job teaching chemistry at another HBCU, Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Reid’s extensive healthcare experience spans over 25 years. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors of Bon Secours Mercy Health, a $10 billion healthcare system that spans seven states in the United States and the Republic of Ireland. Prior to that, she was Vice Chair of the Board of the Cincinnati Region of Mercy Health and on the Board of Directors of Catholic Healthcare Partners (a predecessor of Mercy Health). Dr. Reid also served on the Board of Trustees of The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, its over $3 billion academic medical center. She is a former Board of Directors member of ChoiceCare, a health maintenance organization, which was acquired by Humana. She also served as Chair of the Board of The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, a $250 million foundation formed after the sale of ChoiceCare (The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati is now Interact for Health). She also served on the Board of Trustees of the Health Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati.
Dr. Reid’s civic service has included being a member of the Cincinnati Branch Board of the Federal Reserve Bank, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Cincinnati USA Chamber of Commerce, member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati and Co-Chair of its Government Affairs Committee, member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of the Red Cross, member of the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati and Chair of its YWCA Woman of Achievement luncheon, and numerous volunteer activities.
She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Rali, a privately held tech company, and is on the Advisory Board of the Talent Management Institute, a privately held consulting firm.
Dr. Reid has received numerous business and civic honors and awards over the years including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Deloitte and Touche 100 Wise Women, A. K.
