There are a variety of training resources available to support you in developing remote and hybrid courses. Please read through the options below to determine which option would be the best fit for your course needs.
COURSE DESIGN WITH CANVAS - ONLINE, SELF-PACED
All faculty are enrolled in Course Design with Canvas, which provides a wide range of resources that can be accessed at any time. Resources include information for using Xavier’s course template, best practices for designing and teaching courses, strategies for including Jesuit values and inclusive teaching practices, “how to” information for Canvas and other instructional technologies, and contact information to find help. If you do not see this course available to you in Canvas, please reach out to idt@xavier.edu
CANVAS SELF-PACED INSTRUCTOR TRAINING - ONLINE, SELF-PACED
This self-paced Canvas training course is intended to prepare Xavier instructors to use Canvas with their courses and serve as a resource that can be referred back to after training is completed. This course contains 6 self-paced modules on all of the main features of Canvas that can be completed in any order. Click here for more information and to register for the course
INTRODUCTION TO ONLINE COURSE DESIGN (IOCD) - ONLINE, ASYNCHRONOUS, 6-WEEKS
This course is intended to guide the development of online courses at Xavier and provides an opportunity for faculty to learn about online pedagogy and apply best practices for online teaching and course design.
