About our majors
Current students are involved in a variety of projects that allow them to understand how history has shaped individuals and vice-versa. Students have collected oral histories from, among others, blues and country musicians, entrepreneurs, environmentalists, and Holocaust survivors. Students are also involved in using digital technology to make history more accessible to the general public. (Some of these can be seen on our Digital History Workshop page.) We also strive to give students meaningful internship opportunities. Some of our partner institutions include the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and the Cincinnati Museum Center.
History students are particularly encouraged to take advantage of study abroad opportunities. Xavier faculty regularly lead trips to France, England, and Canada. Students have also traveled to Poland, Brazil, China, and elsewhere.
