The Financial Systems team supports Xavier’s Financial Administration Division which includes:

  • Accounts Payable
  • Auxiliary Services
  • Bursar
  • Central Procurement & Strategic Purchasing
  • Controller’s Office
  • Financial Planning and Budgets
  • Physical Plant
  • Treasury Operations

OUR GOAL

The goal of the Financial Systems team is to improve financial systems and business processes ensuring Best Practices using Lean, Six Sigma and Project Management methodologies. We serve as the liaison between Financial Administration and other key University areas like the Provost, Human Resources, the Division of IT, Institutional Research as well as the broader campus user community.

WHAT WE DO

This team helps to:

  • Standardize the use of our Financial Systems, Processes and Procedures (eliminating waste and increasing automation)
  • Resolve issues related to Financial Applications, Interfaces and Reports
  • Focus on proactive rather than retrospective improvement strategies
  • Provide leadership support for the evaluation and implementation of new or existing applications, interfaces, upgrades and enhancements
  • Bring innovative solutions and support initiatives campus-wide
  • Utilize existing system and university resources to its fullest capabilities
  • Empower end users by providing meaningful and actionable data for decision making
  • Monitor and ensure data integrity as the Finance Data Custodian

PROJECT SAMPLING

  • Benefit Focus API File Changes to Improve Open Enrollment & Change Processes (with Human Resources)
  • TIAA Census File Creation (with Human Resources, Payroll, and IT)
  • Physical Plant Procure to Pay Lean Project (with Procurement, Controller’s Office, Accounts Payable and Physical Plant)
  • Banner Migration to the Cloud Project (Financial Administration, Division of IT, and the broader campus community through the Data Custodian Team)

It is important to note that even though we engaged with specific departments to make improvements through the projects listed above, each positively impacted ALL benefit eligible employees and most Banner users.
