State of Ohio Endorsements
If you are a licensed educator and want to gain additional knowledge in a specific discipline while increasing your credentials, consider getting an endorsement to add on to your professional license. An endorsement allows you to teach in specialized subject areas (or grade levels) beyond your licensed area(s). All of Xavier University’s endorsements are fully accredited and meet Ohio Department of Education guidelines.
Endorsements can be completed as standalone programs or alongside a master’s degree.

Why should I get an Ohio Endorsement?
An Ohio endorsement will create unique opportunities to advance your career options within education by meeting specialized needs of students. An Ohio endorsement may also increase your pay.
Do I need a master’s degree to get an endorsement?
No, you do not need a master’s degree in order to get an endorsement. You need a current teaching license. Credits earned when obtaining an endorsement at Xavier University may count towards a master’s degree at Xavier.
What are the admission requirements for an endorsement and how do I apply?
You need a valid Ohio license to apply for an endorsement. Licensure and official undergraduate transcripts are the only items needed to apply. Submitting an application is free! Start your application here: https://www.xavier.edu/apply/index
What if I have licensure from out of state, can I get an Ohio endorsement?
In order to get an Ohio endorsement added to your license, you must first obtain an Ohio teaching license. Xavier University offers licensure and credential support to ensure your success. Please contact April Thomas at thomasa7@xavier.edu for guidance.
