Diversity & Inclusion Certificate
Our asynchronous Diversity & Inclusion Certificate program is cultivated to assist you in gaining awareness, knowledge, and skills towards creating inclusion and social change on campus and in your communities. Our multi-layered program facilitates an inclusive learning environment where you alongside other Xavier students can engage in dialogue, break barriers, and build collaborative, ally focused relationships. Our program consists of a welcome session, 4 core sessions, and ending with an assessment and celebration where participants will receive a certificate.
The training consists of 4 core sessions:
- Exploring Our Identities: This week's module is all about our identities, their role in our lived experiences, and how they interact with others.
- (un)Learning Privilege: This week's module is all about understanding privilege and which identities hold privilege and those that don't. We will also cover how you can use your privilege in order to uplift and center marginalized identities.
- Recognizing and Responding to Microaggressions: This week's module is all about learning what microaggressions are, the impact the have, and how we can respond to them, whether you are committing a microaggression, experiencing one, or witnessing one as a bystander.
- Navigating Oppressive Systems: This week's module is all about learning how we can navigate oppressive systems, how power and privilege interact with oppression, the different levels of systematic oppression, what calling in vs. out means, and how to stop the cycle of oppression.
