MAHA BALI Digital Literacy & Anti-Racist Pedagogy

This keynote will focus on faculty reflecting on their own digital literacy skills while also equipping them to develop anti-racist digital media content, pedagogical processes and assignments/assessments. We will explore how to do work that is rooted in equity and justice, challenging traditional educational paradigms that often perpetuate systemic racism and exclusion. This session will empower faculty to create inclusive digital learning environments, where digital media is used intentionally to foster racial healing, address historical injustices, and promote Ignatian belonging. Special thanks to the Division of Ignatian Belonging, who helped make this session possible through the TRTH grant.

Using Canva to Make Zines

Making zines is a common project made in the Makerspace and traditionally has been done using scissors, paper, and glue. But not all students and not all projects are suited for this activity. This session will focus on making zines using Canva. Leslie Whitford will provide Canva templates, step-by-step instructions, and best practices for making digital zines. There will also be discussion on how you can use this project in your classes. You will need a Canva account before this session. Prior experience using Canva is helpful but not necessary.
