What to Know About the Day One Program at Xavier

The Day One Program provides undergraduate students with quick and easy access to all their academic materials, both physical and digital, saving them hundreds of dollars per semester. Starting Fall 2024, new undergraduate students will pay $125 per semester for these materials, itemized on their Bursar account. Note: This does not apply to students enrolled in the ABSN program.

How It Works

  • Register for classes.
  • All digital course materials are loaded in Canvas.

DAY ONE PROGRAM

The Day One Program provides all required materials to enrolled students. After course registration, your list is sent to the Book Depot for pickup during Manresa or the first week of classes.

The program includes print rentals, digital formats, lab manuals, access codes, and other digital materials.

Consumables like lab goggles, dissection kits, and nursing kits are excluded.

Starting Fall 2024, new undergraduates will have a $125 book fee per semester. Returning students won't have additional book fees.

Yes, students typically spend $500 - $800 per semester on materials at retail prices.

OPTING OUT

Yes, you can opt out from July 1 to August 25 for Fall 2024 and buy materials elsewhere. Follow the link to opt out, and a credit will be issued.

No, opting out applies to all courses or none per semester.

Charges remain until requests are processed and accounts credited after the opt-out period ends as per the Academic Calendar.

You can opt back in within the current period (by August 25 for Fall 2024). Follow the link to opt back in. Changes are not allowed after the deadline.

No, you must opt out each semester individually.

Return your books to the Bookstore within 7 days before opting out. You cannot opt out until materials are returned.

MATERIAL RETURNS

 

No, the program is a rental, so books are due back at the end of the semester. You'll receive emails with return details and purchase options.

All materials are due back by the last day of finals. You'll receive email reminders. If you drop a class or change sections, return materials within 7 days.

You'll get an email when new materials are ready. If you change sections, return the previous materials within 7 days.

Return the books within 7 days. Failure to do so will result in a non-return fee.
