Deeper Integration of Diversity

The FLC on Deeper Integration of Gender and Diversity Issues in the Classroom will engage in a year-long discussion of how to more deeply and effectively integrate issues of diversity in the classroom. In addition to experimenting with their own courses, community members might address issues such as the demographics of the student body; recruitment for diversity; the ways other universities address these issues; and the current framing of core curriculum learning outcomes as it relates to diversity. Xavier University's Jesuit mission calls on faculty to value the unique circumstances, experiences, and concerns of each student. Faculty members in this community will demonstrate a commitment to the Jesuit values of cura personalis, social justice, and solidarity through their integration of diversity into their teaching. Faculty with extensive experience teaching diversity topics, particularly graduates of Multicultural Fluency I and II Institutes, are especially encouraged to apply.
