Beth Schultz, PHD, DNP, RN
Chair of ABSN Track
Beth Schultz, PhD, DNP, MSN is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (PhD), Union University (DNP), Jacksonville University (MSN), University of North Florida (BSN), and Gulf Coast State College (ADN). She is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Future of Nursing Scholar. Her PhD research focused on the impact of instrumental support during the post-discharge period, especially the impact hospitalization has on older adults. She is an active member of the Alliance for Camp Health and also conducts research with an interdisciplinary research group focusing on healthcare in the camp setting.
Dr. Schultz has been involved in, taught, and led nursing education in a variety of settings from technical schools to universities. Most recently, she became the Program Chair of the Accelerated Track of the Bachelor of Nursing Science program in the College of Nursing at Xavier University. In the past Schultz has led the development, approval, and accreditation process for undergraduate nursing programs at two different universities. When teaching in the classroom, she has especially enjoyed providing students with non-traditional experiences such as engaging in the community, traveling to other countries, and learning about health care in the camp setting. She is a passionate servant leader for faculty and staff, stemming from her DNP in Executive Leadership from Union University.
Schultz maintains an active nursing practice and has worked in a variety of settings, but her favorite is working as a nurse at camp. She enjoys the challenge of caring for campers and staff, and being a part of a team working towards providing campers with unique experiences. “You never know what each day will hold, every summer I encounter something new and unique! I think summer camp is a great opportunity for nursing clinical experiences!” Dr. Schultz has been actively involved in the Alliance for Camp Health (formally the Association of Camp Nursing) for many years, serving on the Executive Board as the secretary and on the Research Committee.
