Dr. Waltke Paulding
Associate Professor, Biology
Dr. Paulding received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa and his Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Florida College of Medicine. His research interest is in the cellular signaling mechanisms that couple decreased oxygen availability (hypoxia) to a cellular response. These mechanisms include signal transduction events (protein activation and inactivation) as well as formation of protein complexes that regulate transcriptional and translational responses. Current research involves investigating the relationship between hydrogen peroxide-associated oxidative stress and the von Hippel Lindau (VHL) protein. Dr. Paulding has taught lecture courses for General Biology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, and Life: Human Biology. He has also taught labs for General Biology I and II, Anatomy and Physiology II, and non-majors Life labs I and II.
