Mr. Mike Gehner
Senior Teaching Professor
Mike is a full-time Laboratory Instructor and currently teaches General Biology Lab I, Human Anatomy and Physiology Labs I and II, Genetics Lab and a Biology of Aging course. Mike attended the University of Cincinnati for both his bachelors and masters degrees. His graduate studies focused on plant molecular biology. Despite his background in molecular biology, Mike has discovered new interests in anatomy and the biology of aging. He was instrumental in obtaining human cadavers for our senior students to dissect and demonstrate in the anatomy labs. Mike believes an informal, yet challenging, environment in the classroom is the recipe for a great class. He acts as the faculty advisor for Navigators on campus and is known for being the "guy who plays the music" at the men's basketball games. Mike and his wife Karen have three children and love spending time with them fishing and playing sports. His personal interests include coaching, training for and running marathons, pond maintenance, and collecting John Ruthven artwork.
