Mission and Identity Programs

Xavier's Seminars on Ignatian Leadership

This program focuses on deepening Ignatian leadership principles and practices throughout campus. Weekly sessions include mini-seminars and discussions on principles of Ignatian leadership, personal and communal discernment, and Jesuit education. Practical models and practices will be shared that may be adapted by participants for use in their own areas. Participants will complete a Capstone Reflection/Project at the end of the program which may be based on one of the practices or models shared during the sessions.

At the end of the program, participants are recognized as a Province Ignatian Educator of Distinction.

If you have questions or are wondering if this program is a good fit for you or someone in your area, please feel free to email Joe Shadle.

During Spring semester 2025, this program will run on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

  • concepts were very practical and could be applied for personal growth and professional development
  • the different approaches to leadership using Ignatian and Jesuit values - I appreciated the different perspective that people brought

  • camaraderie - leadership can be lonely! Continuous learning personally and professionally
  • the honesty and open engagement of the group
  • gave me a lot to think about for my leadership and area
  • great representation from across campus
  • loved the leadership and Ignatian tie-ins
  • hearing from so many speakers with a diverse set of experiences and perspectives
  • learn Xavier's values in a meaningful way, not just recite them
