Biography
Welcome to Xavier! I’m Tara Mullarkey, the Regional Recruitment Director working with students in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the Dakotas. I was born in Rochester, MN raised in Southeastern WI and currently reside in Wauwatosa, WI. My passion for helping people was deepened by Jesuit education and I worked in healthcare for several years after graduation. I transitioned to college admissions in 2014 when I realized I also love helping students navigate this major life transition. Turns out, cura personalis has been a part of my career all along.
Outside of work I love being outside, traveling, cooking/baking, and spending time with my husband & daughters.
Where you grew up
Greendale, WI
Favorite thing about Xavier
The ‘come as you are’ welcoming mentality. A Xavier education is certainly transformative and challenges students, faculty, and staff to grow each day. I’m amazed that regardless of when you arrived everyone is family on our campus, embraced for exactly who you are at this very moment, yet encouraged to push yourself outside of your comfort zone.
Favorite thing about Cincinnati
The food! Though I’m partial to Kopp’s custard, there’s room in my heart for Graeter’s too.
Best advice for seniors who are making their college decision
Take a deep breath. You’ve never done this before, it’s ok to feel overwhelmed. Though it may be the first major life decision you get to make, there’s no ‘right’ answer so take another deep breath and try to enjoy the journey. Going to college isn’t the finish line, it’s the very beginning of your life as an adult.
