Biography
Hello! My name is Mac Yates and I am an Admission Counselor here at X! I found my home here at Xavier when I went off to college, and graduated in the spring of 2019. I am still here today working in the Office of Admissions, where I worked as a student giving tours. Now I get to work with my students through the whole admissions process, welcoming them into our community with open arms.
My first year at X as a student was awesome. I became as involved as I could, not only to make new friends in a completely new place, but also just to get all I could out of the awesome things that the Xavier community offers. My first year as an admission counselor has also been exciting, being one of the many “welcome mats” Xavier has for its prospective students.

Favorite Thing About Xavier
You will undoubtedly hear this a lot, but it's the people at Xavier that really make it what it is. The students, staff, and faculty really cultivate an open, positive environment. Xavier is a ton of fun if you take those steps to put yourself out there, and when you are faced with challenges here, help is always there and easy to find.
Favorite Thing About Cincinnati
Cincy has an awesome vibe and mix to it, and only continues to grow. I am so glad that I ended up in Cincinnati, for college and to live in post-grad. There is plenty to do, many people to get to know, and there are so many opportunities for those who seek them.
Best advice for seniors who are making their college decision
Keep an open mind. When my decision came down to two colleges, both very different from each other, I had to consider a lot of things, and it ultimately did come to that gut feeling. Also, reach out to your admission counselors, because that's our job... to help you find what's best for you. And if you can, reach out to a current student. They are the real experts living the college life.
