1. Facilitating Difficult Conversations Among Students: How Faculty and Staff Can Promote the Xavier Way of Dialogue (9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.)
This session is directed towards faculty and student-facing staff members.
In this engaging, interactive session, faculty and staff can:
- Identify tools and approaches to work with students during difficult conversations in the classroom and during co-curricular activities
- Use difficult dialogues as opportunities to model and teach critical career skills for respectful engagement
- Redirect difficult conversations if they go off-track
2. Promoting the Xavier Way of Dialogue in the Workplace: Tools for Staff to Engage in Difficult Conversations (11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., lunch provided)
This session is directed towards peer to peer staff relationships or those staff in roles with limited or no interaction with students.
In this engaging, interactive session, staff can:
- Identify the types of disrespectful comments and behaviors that might occur in work environments
- Explore the negative impact of these unproductive dynamics on team work and productivity
- Discuss tools and approaches to engage in the moment or seek support for further conversation
