Cynthia Veraldo, EdD
Teaching Professor
Dr. Veraldo is a Teaching Professor of Sport Management at Xavier and was born and raised in Jeromesville, OH. Before coming to Xavier, she spent 11 years as a Professor of Sport Management at Mount St. Joseph University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Master of Science Degree in Sport Studies from Miami University and a Doctor of Education in Urban Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Veraldo has experience working as a club and high school volleyball coach, a high school athletic director, an academic advisor for Division I student-athletes, and she formerly co-founded a sport related business focusing on developing academic skills in young athletes, grades 2 - 12.
Dr. Veraldo has published articles focusing on various aspects of intercollegiate athletics, the experiences of women in sport management faculty positions, and the experiences of students in various aspects of the sport management curriculum. Her research interests also include understanding the experiences of leaders in sport nonprofit organizations.
Throughout her career, Dr. Veraldo has taught a number of sport management courses. Her favorite courses to teach include; Historical and Socio-Cultural Dimensions of Sport, Contemporary Sport Leadership, and Deviance and Discrimination in Sport: The Role of Ethical Leadership. In her teaching role, Dr. Veraldo has accompanied students in travel abroad trips to the Dominican Republic, Greece, and Italy.
In her free time, Dr. Veraldo likes to hike, bike, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
