After more than four years leading enrollment efforts at the University of Notre Dame, Clyde will oversee strategies to enroll and retain students during a time in which the nearly two-century-old University carries out a strategic plan setting the foundation for its next 200 years.

“Scott carries an unwavering commitment to Catholic higher education and unprecedented record of delivering enrollment results that align with optimal student success outcomes and institutional goals,” said Xavier University President Colleen Hanycz, Ph.D. “His expertise in aligning recruitment strategies, admission and financial aid policies, and resources to develop enrollment pipelines positions our university for future growth and an even stronger student experience. Scott is an outstanding addition to our campus, and I am so proud to welcome him and his family to the Xavier community.”

Prior to Clyde’s time at Notre Dame, he led all recruitment operations, systems, customer service, pre-college programs, and marketing and communications for enrollment initiatives at the University of Rochester, his alma mater and a top-50 university nationally, according to U.S. News and World Report rankings. His time in Rochester culminated in being nominated and selected for the Rochester Business Journal's ‘Forty Under 40 award’.

"I was particularly drawn to Xavier University's commitment to student success and its dedication to providing a transformative educational experience," Clyde said. "The mission to educate each student intellectually, morally, and spiritually aligns with my core principles. I am eager to collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to develop and implement enrollment strategies that support Xavier's vision and strategic objectives."

In addition to his 11-plus years as a higher education decision-maker, Clyde served on active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps for a decade. An F/A-18 fighter pilot and instructor pilot who reached the rank of major, Clyde would successfully complete and become the highest-ranking student of the University of Rochester’s NROTC program and later chaired the university’s Veterans Alliance committee.

Clyde holds a bachelor’s degree in biology/biological sciences from Rochester and an MBA with a management specialization from the Florida Institute of Technology.
