Navy SEALs dinner, auction benefits Veteran and Military Family Center

Jul 30, 2024

Xavier alumni, parents and friends will have an opportunity to bid on exclusive Navy Seals memorabilia and experiences while supporting Xavier’s Captain Phil H. Bucklew Veteran and Military Family Center.

Lorraine and Joe Mayernik will host a benefit dinner and auction at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 in their home on 7967 Ayers Road. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Navy SEAL Museum and its Trident House Charities Program.

Xavier’s Captain Phil H. Bucklew Veteran and Military Family Center will receive a portion of the event proceeds based on the amount of money raised by guests who identify as members of the Xavier Family.

“We are grateful to the Mayernik family for hosting an event which could greatly benefit the work we do to support veterans and military families at Xavier,” said Glenn Welling Jr., Director of the Captain Phil H. Bucklew Veteran and Military Family Center.

Xavier has developed a strong relationship with leaders and supporters of the Navy SEAL museum. Xavier recently renamed its Veteran and Military Family Center in honor of Capt. Phil H. Bucklew, a Xavier graduate from the Class of 1936 who eventually became known as the “Father of Naval Special Warfare.”

One day prior to the dinner and auction, at noon on Friday, Sept. 6, military enthusiasts and supporters are invited to participate in a day of shooting with Navy SEALS at Sycamore Sporting Clays, 6254 Lower Lewis Road.

The event grants individuals or teams of four the chance to participate in sport shooting activities with active members of the Navy SEALS. The event is limited to the first 100 registered participants. Following the shoot, a reception will be held at the home of Beth and Dan Feldkamp. Additional details on the reception will be provided to registered participants.

The shooting event also benefits Navy SEAL Museum and its Trident House Charities Program.

Tickets to the benefit dinner and action cost $250/person. Tickets to the Navy SEALs shoot cost $400 per person, or $1,500 for a group of four. Costs for the shooting event cover lunch as well as fees for shooting and shells.

Online registration is open for both events.
