Blue Blob Cupcakes

If you prefer the DIY route, you can add Blue Blob cupcakes to your party table. You'll need:

  • 12 cupcakes in your graduate’s favorite flavor
  • 1 to 1 ½ cups blue buttercream icing
  • Edible blue spray
  • 1/3 cup vanilla icing
  • ½ cup chocolate icing
  • Spoon
  1. Ice the cupcakes. Use a spoon to cover cupcake with blue icing. Then, lightly pat the bottom of the spoon against the icing to make raised fur.
  2. Spray the cupcakes. It can be hard to make frosting as dark as the fur of the Blob, but using edible blue spray paint on top of a lighter blue will give you a closer match.
  3. Add eyes and nose. Pipe vanilla frosting circles for the eye, then add a third, slightly larger circle for the nose.
  4. Add pupils and smile! Use chocolate icing to add pupils to the eye circles, then pipe a large, happy smile!

Drinks

Blue sparkling lemonade in champagne glasses

Looking for a themed drink? Add a drop or two of blue food coloring to your favorite drink, make iced tea out of butterfly pea flowers (just be careful with citrus and other acids, since they turn the tea from dark blue to a bright pink) or try this festive mocktail!

Victory Parkway Sparkler

Mix chilled blue lemonade or fruit punch with sparkling water to taste. Serve in champagne glasses.

Since store-bought lemonades can be very sweet, a 1:1 ratio of lemonade to sparkling water is a good starting point to keep a bright color, have bubbles, and be enjoyable to all age groups!
