Xavier University extends popular 16-month nursing program to Columbus

Xavier University is expanding its successful ABSN accelerated nursing program into Columbus, increasing access to a quality nursing education and creating a steady source of skilled nurses for Ohio employers.
Xavier hosted a Grand Opening event on Monday, Nov. 4, to celebrate the expansion. The new program will enroll students three times a year.
"At Xavier University, we are creating a pipeline for practice-ready nurses for Ohio health-care employers," said Judith Lewis, EdD, Interim Dean of the College of Nursing. "With an aging population and an increase in experienced nurses retiring from the workforce, Ohio is feeling the effects of a national nursing shortage,"
Xavier has a current enrollment of 341 Accelerated BSN students in Cincinnati and has already enrolled 47 new students in Columbus. The new Columbus ABSN program location is at 8425 Pulsar Place, Suite 100, Columbus, Ohio 43240. For more information about the Xavier 16-month ABSN program, visit acceleratednursing.xavier.edu.
"Our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (ABSN) allows those with another college degree to be on the fast-track to the nursing profession. In just 16 months, students at our Cincinnati location are already practicing in the field," Lewis said.
"Today, we are happy to expand into the Columbus area. We have a great location in Polaris and a team of faculty and staff dedicated to supporting the Columbus region. Whether it is our main campus or now in Columbus, our Jesuit values offer the opportunity to add ethics, critical thinking, and holistic care for the patient as tenets of our unique program. We already have partners in Columbus at OhioHealth and Nationwide Children’s Hospital who will ensure that Xavier students have quality clinical experiences."
